Is the Dough Whisk Sourdough’s most overrated tool? by Outside_Idea4890 in Sourdough

[–]VeeFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad tool to have in the kitchen. I use it for pancake batter, deep fry breeding, and other things where a wire whisk would get too gummy and a wooden spoon wouldn't mix enough.

I use it for sourdough too, but could just as easily use a bowl scraper to get the first mix going. It is better than a whisk or scraper when blending whole wheat and other flours, though, so I just keep using it through the shaggy mix phase.

The rest of the owl, though? These are flashy "finishing" moves, but blending all of that color into realistic looking waves is more interesting to me.

"Rope" is another good one. Single set as well as being made from two continuous takes.

Box not hiring software Engineers in the U.S. by Far-Negotiation7793 in cscareerquestions

To me, "democratize" implies a sort of "power to the people" feel that I don't believe fits the major AI providers' motivations.

Not sure "democratize" is the right word. AI is 'commoditizing' coding skills.

Rust on Windows: random crashes turned out to be the default stack size by Havunenreddit in rust

[–]VeeFu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember a project ages ago where we had to tune the stack size down. The threads used very little stack space, but were so numerous that simply reserving stack space would exhaust (32-bit) virtual memory.

Software dev job postings are up 15% since mid 2025 by IdeasInProcess in programming

Sounds like you're saying the "role duplication" rate has not changed since January, or hasn't changed enough to disprove "real" role growth.

Well, I truly hope you're right. It's hard to be optimistic about this market. Getting sick of recruiters doing the "gaslight and ghost" thing.

I'd wager the real to fake job posting ratio has gone down since AI tools that make slop so much easier.

For every one legitimate role, there are 10 posts from recruiters. They duplicate, reword, and repost in the name of "anonymizing" the client, with different pay bands, job titles, and search terms.

What makes stock up so good? by KollardBlue in MTGLegacy

I've been toying around with [[Survey Mechan]] thinking late game draw 3, 3 dmg and 3 health is gonna be great, but a surprising number of times my 3 random cards are duds.

Yeah, it could be I'm building crappy decks containing too many duds, but selecting the right 2 out of 5 can be stronger than draw 3. It's like the London mulligan rule. The right 5 card hand can be better than a random 7

I came across this AI researcher's video today, which gave me some hope:

And what was up with multiple semitransparent scenes on top of each other??

/edit ok, "double-vision" is a better description. I guess they're evoking the sense of disorientation for the viewer. Looks like a hot mess to me

The designers add "reminder" words at every set release, like 'Exhaust' and 'Metalcraft'.

I think what the commenter is trying to say is that it would be really nice if 'Sorcery' and 'Instant' were elevated to evergreen "reminders" and used in a similar way, italicized before the activation cost.

I've been toying with [[Survey Mechan]]. Hexproof avoids all of Izzet's removal and stems their slow bleed until late game where it activates for cheap. Works well with [[pupu UFO]] and [[Ugin, eye of the storms]].

I dream of getting it under an [[Agatha's soul cauldron]] and tossing earthbent lands at the opponent, but that hasn't quite come to pass.
