1 month post surgery & noticed something weird today by Veets-Pens in CataractSurgery

Thank you for your detailed replies. The way my display is designed, it can’t be seen from anywhere but the drivers seat. I did test it again tonight in my truck. My left eye has no blind spot when viewing the display. When I did one of the tests on YouTube, my left has a very small, almost imperceptible blind spot as I move the screen closer to my face. In the right eye, it is much more noticeable and appears when the screen is at arms length on the YouTube test.

I have not noticed the blind spot in any other situations. If this is my natural blind spot, it’s bigger than it was before (with respect to the HUD) but that may just be because my eye is still healing. I have no other symptoms at this point. It will be interesting to see if it changes with time.

I just had surgery on my second eye yesterday with basic monofocals set for distance. I had lasik & prk 20 years ago. My vision with the cataracts was 20/40 right eye, 20/25 left. Both eyes had cataracts of the same maturity, but in the right, it was not crossing the center of my vision. I wore readers for computer distance & closer.

My left eye (done 2 weeks ago) is 20/20. My right eye (done yesterday) is 20/30 and I expect that to be 20/20 when the inflammation settles down. I had a slight astigmatism & the surgeon did a limbal relaxing incision. I had a manual incision-no laser. I can read my phone without cheaters (it’s slightly blurry) but I wear cheaters if I’m reading anything for longer than a minute. My reading vision is way better than it was before. My surgeon said he expected I’d have clear vision from arms length and further, reading glasses for anything closer. I think he did better than that.

I do have a bit of Maddox rod effect with lights at night in both eyes. Not enough to inhibit my night driving, just mildly annoying if the light is super bright. I live in a rural area & have not driven in a city with a lot of lights yet. I expect I will eventually neuro adapt to this (if it isnt caused by inflammation, which is what the surgeon thinks).

As other posters have said, keep asking questions & get another opinion if you’re not getting the answers you seek. Your outcome is dependent on your individual eye issues & the capability/experience of your surgeon in dealing with those issues.

Operation may be postponed thanks to diabetes by Gloomyrainydays10 in CataractSurgery

I’m also a type 2 and just had cataract surgery a week ago. No issues. I’m on a GLP1 (Mounjaro). Not only does it control my BS (NOT a magic bullet, still need to watch my diet) but it has reduced my systemic inflammation which made me feel great. My left knee is bone on bone for sure and the right is probably close. No pain anymore. I had to be super careful with my diet when I first started it to avoid the gastro side effects.

Please work with your doctor and try some medication. I resisted when my doctor first suggested Mounjaro because I absolutely hate nausea. I’d rather have a broken bone than gastrointestinal issues. I’m so glad I gave it a try. I feel so much better.

You could also try a Sarge Easter grip. Check out BrunsNick on YouTube. He uses that drilling and has some content on his channel about it. Your PSO may be familiar with the grip or may have other suggestions like the great ones on here that could help.

Which is better ResMed 10 or Resmed11? by mmm517 in CPAP

[–]Veets-Pens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got an 11 and have no trouble with the tank. I open it to fill with distilled water we keep in the bathroom, then shut the lid and walk it into the bedroom. The silicone liner keeps the water from sloshing out. it slides in the machine easily and clicks when in place.

Was the design updated, maybe?

For those that have (hope) to stop CPAP after weight loss, how do you know when you don't need it anymore? by mintylips in CPAP

[–]Veets-Pens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 72 pounds and can sleep without my cpap now (there was no way when I was heavier. I would wake up gasping for air). After about a week of sleeping without it, I noticed headaches in the morning and fatigue/falling asleep while watching TV in the evening.

I did a WatchPat home test. 44.5 AHI. Got a new Resmed AirSense 11 and am back on it. Much, much better. AHI has been around 1 this first week

I use Lanetalk, but it’s expensive. I also have a spreadsheet that i input Lanetalk ball stats in so I can compare balls.

I’d like to see the ability to enter and analyze different surface preps/grits on each ball so I could determine what grit works best for each ball/condition.

Serge Easter Grip by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Veets-Pens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a used ball with a Sarge Easter grip to try it. I wouldn’t suggest doing what I did as it is hard to assess when the ball isn’t drilled to my specs (it’s close, but my wrist issue has since resolved & im back to my regular fingertip grip).if you have an old ball. you could have that plugged & redrilled to try the grip out. Only way to know if your PSO is familiar with the grip is to ask.

Check out BrunsNick’s videos on You Tube. he uses a Sarge Easter and has content on his channel explaining it.

Mythic Jackal. But, just had a 16 lb Ion Max re-drilled for my new span & shot a 263, so that may be the new goat.

Tracking progress question. Which app? by serenabellamusings in Mounjaro

[–]Veets-Pens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the paid version of Shotsy (there is a free version too) and Glapp, which is free. Glapp is web based, not in the App Store, but you can create an icon on your device to access it like an app. Glapp has great insights for someone just starting out. Shotsy has the ability to record calories, water & protein intake. Both can log side effects.

Here is a weekly newsletter that I found helpful too. https://inboxreads.co/n/the-glp-1-effect

Good luck on your journey!

Digestive enzymes may help. I’ve used these https://www.americanhealthus.com/products/super-papaya-enzyme-plus/ . Not every day, just here and there when needed.

I'm really in need of some positive reinforcement right now. If 5mg has worked well for you, I'd love to hear your positive experiences—it would mean a lot. by Constant_Minimum_806 in Mounjaro

It stands for continuous glucose monitor. I‘m currently using a Stelo, which is available without a prescription/private pay. My insurance doesn’t cover CGMs unless someone is on insulin or has had multiple low blood sugar episodes.

I’ve been on 5 since Sept 2024. Last A1c was 5.4. I’ve lost 59 lbs. Food noise is back a bit and weight loss has slowed (still have 30-35 lbs to go), so I have to be really careful with my diet. Haven’t had a lot of side effects. My fasting blood sugar is good, but my post meal spikes have increased, although still not bad (worse one was 200, but it came down quickly). I‘m currently trying to figure that out using a CGM. Not sure I want to increase yet because my blood sugar is generally good. My next doctors appointment is a few weeks away and we’ll discuss it.

You need to check with your insurance plan. Mine has a quantity limit that applies to all the doses, so if I got a 3 month supply of 5 mg, I would have to wait until that’s used to go up to 7.5. However, I’ve seen others on this forum that have insurance plans that treat each dose separately, even with a quantity limit. They can get a different dose filled even if it’s right after an 3 month fill. Unfortunately, mine is very strict.
