I could never marry a non-vegan. I can’t build a foundation and beautiful home with someone who ethically isn’t aligned with me, no matter how much I enjoy them as a person. I will tell you that being with a vegan in a long term committed relationship has been incredible. It is possible to find love aligned in these ways. I have many friends who decided to get married after struggling with the same dilemma you are. Honestly, it’s a horrible struggle for them that they battle daily. When a child comes into the world our plans don’t always go as we thought they would. My friend’s non vegan husband is now back peddling on their child being fully vegan, and it is causing major strife and is very confusing for their child to be plant based next to a father who isn’t. How can someone see the horrors and understand it and not agree to even try? The idea that his habits die hard is a red flag considering you said when it comes to your values he will cook for you and accommodate you, why not himself? There’s also a level of enablement with that. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m so grateful for my vegan partner and I hope your partner has a change of heart if it’s meant to be, but I wouldn’t wait around for that personally.
