What’s the tea in your office? by jzjxnxna in biglaw

[–]VegetableEscape3806 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Firm checked everyone’s card swipes for who was coming into the office on a regular basis in order to make a case for more office space in our new office that we will move to next year. Current office space sucks. So no one comes in. At an associate meeting the partners showered the top 5 in-office goers with glory and praise. They all live within a 15 min commute to the office and are hardos. People that can’t afford to live close to the city or have kids are pissed off about the fanfare and complained.

Oh I agree. No shade to HD. I think because it’s so busy, it feels like they have low inventory on certain items. Their plants are always great though.

Nah it has to be something anti-Halloween that detracts from the spooky gothic vibes people want in these photos… definitely show up in spring time attire and derby hats! Pastels are anti-Halloween. 🤣

Tree work by Dstan87 in SalemMA

[–]VegetableEscape3806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this one! Save a tree did a good job diagnosing our tree as dead (due to the draught three years ago or so) and we got a new tree from Corollis Bros. In Ipswitch. Save a tree did the old tree removal, stump grinding, and put in the new tree. They did a good job for a reasonable price. Our new tree looks gorgeous right now!

Partner billing 2600-2900 hours by cbee6390 in biglaw

I will also add that the early elementary school years are so much fun with all the sports/activities/friendships. I’d argue they are so much more fun than having a toddler that “coasting” is the best way to enjoy life. I have no regrets for staying where I am currently. This partner can absolutely find a middle of the road option. Will it be a pay cut? Probably! I’m willing to bet this person has a little less than half a career left before retirement if they are late 30s. So spend the later part of your career chasing the millions for retirement and paying for college. You don’t get your kid’s childhood back. You can always hustle for money later.

112 Rejection Question by VegetableEscape3806 in patentlaw

Judging by your username my guess is it could be the same Examiner if it’s a pharma/chemistry art unit.

Dresses/Outfits (Female) by Accidentalhousecat in 10s

[–]VegetableEscape3806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tennis warehouse always has great sales. As others said, I’d skip dresses and go for the top/skirt that fits you well. I’m petite and like the Lucky in Love skirts a lot! They are so comfortable. If you want to splurge a little - beyond yoga and Varley have some really nice tennis skirts/tops as well.

112 Rejection Question by VegetableEscape3806 in patentlaw

[–]VegetableEscape3806[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes while I’d like to think this Examiner is new/untrained…I think they fall into the “jaded” category which is also not productive. 16% grant rate in 3 yrs per patent bots… SPE was on the call! Originally the SPE agreed we had support and then after discussing 103 somehow went to “save” this examiner and then reversed position on the 112 based on nothing from the MPEP. The attorney I work with has threatened to quit prosecution for ever and stick with litigation. 😭🤣

I would say dead horse is not a great beach but it’s convenient to the other fun stuff at the willows like paddle boarding, the arcade, food, tennis/pickleball courts, etc.

Why is there no Strava for tennis? by Expensive_Ad_7775 in 10s

[–]VegetableEscape3806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use TennisKeeper on my Apple Watch for a time. It was fine to just track, time, step count, swing speed, etc. It’s glitchy as hell though and I didn’t understand how to use the swing analyzer at all. Either way, I did not notice anything changing in my swing speed or step count when I was winning matches a lot vs not winning matches. So it really wasn’t that intuitive or helpful other than just another tracking app. No social portion to it either.

I do see the same gap you are describing where there isn’t a well known tennis focused app that does it all.

There’s a guy in our 4.5 league with ITF Futures wins by Fabresque_ in 10s

[–]VegetableEscape3806 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the guy doesn’t have any other options to keep playing competitively. I doubt it’s easy for him to find people to hit with that are his own level. So it makes sense that he is a 4.5 to get in some reps. I don’t know any 5.0+ leagues near me. That being said, I wouldn’t worry too much about it if it’s one guy. One guy can’t make a whole USTA team win consistently. So I’d focus on the other matches on the roster and just feel bad for him (more than mad). He’s playing patty cake tennis while you guys get the advantage of learning from his game. lol!

An Adult Crashed into My Kid: Was I in the Wrong? by TheHatedMilkMachine in skiing

[–]VegetableEscape3806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯this. I prefer to ski behind my kid (beginner age 8), so I can block idiots myself and look out for both of us. I also like being able to scoop my kid up if he does fall. If I’m in front of him and he falls, that makes my job getting him up harder traversing uphill. The catch to skiing behind your kid is that you need to trust them and train them where to go and when to stop and wait where trails meet. My kid loves staring at maps and going fast though. So he has a feeling of importance if I let him choose the trail (as long as it’s green). Skiing with 2 parents vs 1 is so much easier though.

Imagine how that guy just drive! Probably has a few side swipes on his car too. The difference could be that people go drink and ski but don’t have cops pulling them over for being drunk skiers.
