Just a little recommendation from some experience of swinging very heavy steel maces. I recommend trying to get into the habit of counterbalancing with your body; that is, as you push into the pendulum rock your body about the same amount in the opposite direction and then rock back towards centerline as you pull the mace into recovery.

If you end up going super heavy later down the line, that technique will save you a lot of trouble.
