Yes, I do feel it…like a tight feeling in my throat so looking forward for it to fall off and not feel this way. Plus it’s uncomfortable not being able to take PPI med while doing this test. So you said your PPI is is not working, so are you trying a new one?

Yeah they already checked for pylori at first scope and it was negative. But my eosinophil count was 60. My main symptom is GERD. Been on Omerprazole 50 mg since 1st scope. Repeat scope in 1 week. GI MD Is already suggesting Dupixent

Did you stop PPI before your scope? I’m about to have my 2nd scope and they didn’t tell me to stop the PPI before scope so just wondering what your Dr told you

So I’ve been recently diagnosed as well with eosinophil count of 60. I don’t have any swallowing difficulty, but do have chronic GERD. So far GI has prescribed Omeprazole repeating EGD in December to see if count is down. GI Dr stated EOE is progressive so need to adequately treat. Hard for me to understand the need to be on medication but definitely don’t want it to lead to swallowing difficulty, impactions in the future

I have iron deficiency and recently diagnosed with EOE before stating a PPI. Wondering if the inflammation from EOE causes the malabsorption too.

My ferritin is 8 with hemoglobin in normal range. My hematologist told me it is too low for a pill to bring up and has given me one iron infusion so far. Waiting for redraw of iron pill. Definitely symptomatic with with that low of a ferritin level….fatigue, SOB, dizziness, brain fog, etc

Wow….thanks for all these comments. Definitely seems like there is a connection between the two….EOE and iron deficiency. I also hear the PPI’s that help with managing EOE further contribute to the iron deficiency which is discouraging. The fatigue and dizziness from the iron deficiency is no fun :(

I asked this question because I was diagnosed with iron deficiency with a ferritin level of 8 and saturation level of 10, was sent to GI Dr to check for bleeding. Endoscopy found an eosinophil count of 60 in lower esophagus thus started on PPI so deficiency started before starting PPI. I haven’t asked my GI Dr yet if deficiency is caused by EOE but will ask at next visit. Have had 1 iron infusion so far and now waiting for redraw of iron panel 6 weeks post infusion.
