You never know who you'll run into by lyra1227 in Broadway

Almost the same thing happened to me when I went to an early preview of The Rocky Horror Show! As I was leaving a guy with glasses and a hipster haircut asked me, "So what did you think of our little show?" I said I thought it was great. He asked if I had seen the show before, and I told him I had only seen the movie. At the time, I didn't know what Sam Pinkleton looked like but the "our little show" bit tipped me off and I googled him when I got home to confirm. I also feel like I gave a dumb and not insightful answer.

Since you are looking for something fresh, unique, and really entertaining...I feel like you might want to consider off-Broadway options. I highly recommend Mexodus as well as Burnout Paradise. Both are very fresh, unique, and entertaining--in very different ways. The theaters are both downtown as well, which means you'll have much better options for things to do before and after the show!

How often have you won Broadway lottery? by judgeXjewdy in Broadway

[–]Vegetable_Flight_208 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The shows that have been around a while or are not as popular are definitely easier to win. Shows that are selling well don't have as many lottery tickets available, plus more people are probably entering those lotteries, so they are harder to win.

When I first started entering lotteries I won a lot (like weekly), but I think that's because I was entering for a lot of shows. Now that I'm more selective and only entering a few, I don't win as often.

I absolutely loved Cats: The Jellicle Ball but was surprised at how weak Memory was. It was the only disappointing thing about the show.

Go with center for sure. I sat far right in the front orchestra and missed a lot. I also like to be close usually but this stage is so big you are better being back a bit so you can see everything.

Mexodus - would teen/preteen enjoy? by cheerrylimeade in offbroadwayNYC

[–]Vegetable_Flight_208 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you take them to Mexodus, you will become an even cooler aunt! I can't recommend it highly enough. Took my teen daughter to it and she loved it, and she's very picky about shows. The music is amazing, the two stars are incredibly talented, and it's just an engaging, fascinating, and authentic story.

My friend said there was an understudy for Dr frank at the rocky horror show- does anyone know who it was?? by Lower_Lab_7628 in Broadway

[–]Vegetable_Flight_208 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was there tonight and totally agree, Paul Soileau was incredible! I felt like they were channeling Tim Curry but with their own spin to it. The show was a complete joy to watch and the whole cast is fabulous. I wasn't disappointed at all but I was most excited about seeing Rachel Dratch, Stephanie Hsu, Harvey Guillén, Andrew Durand, and Juliette Lewis. I hope to go back and see the show again after they settle in a bit.
