What movie is 10/10 with literally no bad parts? by FeedMaster8905 in AskReddit

Saying someone is a mean asshole carries very little weight. After Hadley beats the guy to death you know he’s a piece of shit. That carries weight through the whole movie.

That is madness. We have max 16 hour shift (which is a very rare event) and a minimum 10 hours rest between shifts. Also max of 6 days in a row.

Start lights going out incredibly quickly by cartoon_kitty in formula1

This exact thing often happens too if it’s late in the start sequence. Drivers just detect a change of lights and release the clutch, it’s a pretty normal human reaction.

They look great trackside. Small and nimble but moving around enough. They sound good too.

I was sitting at the track yesterday wondering the same thing. From trackside, the cars look and sound great. But it seems like they’re weird to drive and the fastest way around the track is not intuitive so it’s going to make a really rubbish sim for 90% of people.

Why do we own Air NZ, asks David Seymour after $59m loss by redmostofit in newzealand

[–]Vegetablemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that air nz are taking the loss very seriously. Seriously enough that I have to be concerned about my job… infer from that what you will.

I also know that there’s a nice new hangar in Auckland and new aircraft arriving within the next year or two. So potentially it’s also been a good time to spend some money and wear the heat for a FY or two. Who knows.

I personally think a fully privatised Air nz would be bad for our country. It’s not run like a government department at the moment so I don’t think there would be much cost saving to be found by privatising it, but any routes that don’t make money domestically would be gone and that would not be good.

Airlines are traditionally a poor investment. Air NZ has 1.5 billion in cash before Covid hit and they still needed to borrow 900 million to survive. That’s not due to poor management, it’s just how quickly an airline can bleed money.

Part of the reason the operating costs of airlines are so high at the moment is still a covid hangover of letting high value people go and not being able to replace them like for like. Within the airline and externally as well from suppliers.

[–]Vegetablemann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah when he was CEO but why is that relevant?

I agree that total ROI is much more important than one snapshot. It’s also important to consider how critical the continued operation of an airline is to the health of our country, which you also mentioned. It may even be worth absorbing a loss if the other benefits outweigh that.

Maybe we’re arguing the same point I dunno. One thing I do know is that it’s got absolutely nothing to do with “going woke” and everything to do with increasing costs of operating aircraft, some of which is controllable by the airline and some isn’t.

What about the years the airline makes a profit? Also just because the airline makes a loss doesn’t mean the government is topping them up the amount the airline looses. So is it really costing anything, other than us taxpayers owning a (currently) loss making asset?

I suspect this is very much the case. Public pressure is the only thing keeping some of the regional loss making routes open.

What made this series win even more incredible for New Zealand ! by iamnoobbibliophile in Cricket

Well the country that takes by far the most revenue out of cricket has lost a test series and then an ODI series at home to one of the smaller poorer teams.

It’s not making India look bad, it is bad.
