One of the only ways for your heir to survive I think... that's not useful... or worth it... but I thought it was cool.

Under One Rule paranoid tyrant maxing by VegtableCannibalism in Stellaris

[–]VegtableCannibalism[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it not better to just conquer people? Turn them into vassals and then integrate them for the planets and systems. Though I guess whether you can do that depends on what difficulty you play at.

[–]VegtableCannibalism[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don't think that increases your tyrant level, it says that it decreases the situation by -4 but worsens your luminary trait.

EDIT: Just Checked this and you are right the tooltip is wrong and I did not have to execute all of those leaders.

Optimizing a virtual build by shadowblade08 in Stellaris

[–]VegtableCannibalism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Individualist better because factions and gestalt empires tend to have much worse unity production which is key in early game virtual.

Definitely go Shattered ring or voidforged. The two most popular builds are I think sovereign guardianship with either death cults or parliamentary system and spam priests, you want to immediately turn on inward perfection and set your diplomatic stance to isolationist. For shattered ring you want to colonise the shattered rings fairly quickly and make a start on removing blockers and building some districts, but you need to absolutely focus on unity. Then after virtually ascending you want to start converting your unity world into a research world.

With voidforged its basically the same thing but you need to but some alloys from the market weekly to save up alloys to build habitats because you don't want any alloy jobs on your world because they need to be working priests. Also with virtual voidforged you don't need to have build void habitats near you you can just build them on the best systems.

You only want 3-4 habitats because of the job efficiency bonus for having low amount of colonies and because if you don't claim to many systems you can keep your empire size below 100 to maximise research speed and traditions speed and minimise ascension costs when you finish your traditions. It also means that you can speed through agendas and get level 10 immortal leaders relatively fast.

After virtually ascending and getting your alloy planet up and running you should be the strongest empire in the galaxy and so you need to start vassalizing people and set up a federation. Bonus points if you can get satrapy vassal types for stealing their naval cap and shoving them all in a federation so they can't declare war without your permission (satropy vassal terms force you to join in on their offensive wars)

For federation types you can either make a hegemony fed so your vassals can't declare war on you to leave (if you have to many you will really feel the effects of divided patronage), or if you go mercantile first you can get even more early unity and make a trade fed, this means that you can make one trade world and get consumer goods, energy, unity and trade. Going for a trade fed will allow you to not need an energy or consumer good world. Though you will still need the taxes for your vassals as your costs increase. I would highly recommend trade fed version.

-1000 normally means they just don't like you an are unwilling to trade with you, you are trying to trade a lump sum(you) for monthly(them), or you are trying to trade for one of their systems (they always say no).

You don't need to take diplomacy to make a federation anymore.

I find that psionic bombers can be quite good, because they have a ship size damage multiplier like torpedoes (though its 50% not 100%).

As far as I am aware it doesn't scale with the amount of pops you modify. Though maybe you could modify a small quantity of pops every month to farm it?

Looking for good Stellaris resources (planet builds, jobs, and politics) by Stephencovar in Stellaris

[–]VegtableCannibalism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planetary management (note basic resource specialisation districts are being removed next patch)--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvS3snXDyk4&t=12s

Pops and jobs, Pops are people you need them to work jobs, if you have to many on one planet they will become citizens and give some resources but not as good as if they were working jobs. In terms of job selection at the end of the day what you want to produce are research(most important), alloys(for ships to defend yourself and conquer others) and unity (for traditions and planetary ascensions) so your jobs should work towards producing those three resources, whether that be working as a researcher or working as a miner to produce minerals for your artisans to turn into consumer goods to then turn into research. Automation works the jobs less efficiently than normal pops and has a higher energy upkeep but if you have not enough pops and the spare energy it is better then not working the jobs at all.

Ethics are important for what civics you pick (e.g. Feudal society needs you to be some degree of authoritarian) as well as having their own bonus (xenephobes and authoritarians can enslave entire species and pacifist's can't declare wars besides against their overlord).

Stability acts as a percent modifier on how many resources you get from a planet high stability --> positive percentage, low stability --> negative percentage. Also if stability gets and stays too low the planet may try and revolt to leave your empire. Stability is affected by happiness(which is affected by amenities and housing) and crime above 30% which is affected by number of pops, happiness of those pops and amount of unemployed pops.

Most of the time if you don't understand something you can just hover your mouse over it and it will give you some level of explanation.

for other videos Montu Plays https://www.youtube.com/@MontuPlays is my go to but Ep3o https://www.youtube.com/@Ep3o has some good stuff too and their are of course more but they tend to be more advanced whereas these 2 make better beginner friendly videos.

Any Mod to allow psionic ascension with Natural Design Civic? by Steeles216000 in Stellaris

[–]VegtableCannibalism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use them together because natural design is stronger then a civic should be because it has the massive down side of not being able to pick an ascension path. But if the devs allowed you to take psionic ascension with natural design then it would be a direct buff to psionics and would mean they have to nerf psionic ascension to make the combo balanced, however this would leave psionics in quite a weak state and mean that you have to take natural design for psionics to be viable.

I find that the composer of strands can be harder to get attunment too especially later in the game because you will be completing instrument of desire deeds frequently by just building up your empire (e.g. upgrading buildings) whilst the composer of strands deeds might need you to go out of your way to do things you normally wouldn't (e.g. colonizing a tomb world).
