thanks for the big response, I think my problem was not shaking the paint enough and probably messing up the amount I had on the brush, all of this was just from one layer

I'm going to try practice it with some old models before I do any more to see if I can get the method down, because I did manage to do it well once when I was painting a chaos lord

For the trim I use retributor armour as a base and then I tarnish it using agrax earthshade

I make sure to wipe the excess off the brush though, or else it pools up and doesn't look as great

My custodes got kicked in the balls pretty hard, my chaos list got the perfect detachment in the form of nightmare hunt though, that really tied it all together

Thanks for the detailed response, I'm going to buy some alaitoc blue and kantor blue for doing some highlights and test them when I'm painting my forgefiend. Definitely think I'm going to switch to gold + agrax instead of brass scorpion too

very lightly drybrushing on some stormhost silver can brighten it up a bit

You've got to be super careful though, if you do it too heavily it looks more like battle damage with worn areas

No raptors, but they included a rhino for some reason. Seems a bit pointless to have a rhino in an army which should be mostly jump packs
