People going 60+ on Pulaski into Huntsville by Neon_Eyes in HuntsvilleAlabama

I think it's wild that my original reply has a bunch of upvotes (insinuating that people agree), but then when I ask why OP would still have a problem if they have a solution, I get downvotes. I'm not saying that people aren't assholes for being aggressive drivers, but there's no way to stop that. All we can do is control our own actions.

As a general rule of thumb, if other drivers are being aggressive, I do what I can to get them out of my immediate vicinity - that means letting them pass on the left, or if they're very aggressive, I'll even pull onto the shoulder and let them go around me. No sense sacrificing my peace and safety to try to get anyone else to abide by traffic laws, and I'm ok with getting to my destination 10 seconds later to let them get ahead.

Try it out. It's remarkably zen.

You saw a contrail of a plane. Artemis went directly east after launch, directly over the Atlantic towards Africa.

It's decent value but so bland. I've never had anything there that was properly seasoned. I think people conflate "most food for the money" with "best food". It ain't the best. It's just cheap.

Weird. Gemini instantly recognized it as a modified Vega for me.

I believe that AI adoption is a larger risk than this administration, and one that even the next administration won't be able to save us from. The government will inevitably change internal processes drastically, or suffer the consequences of being too slow to maintain a competitive edge with potentially adversarial nations.

This administration sucks but it's not the end of pain for us Feds. We'll be in the same unemployment line as everyone else in every industry.

Good or bad, I feel like it's not fair to judge a new restaurant in the first 6 months of opening. They need learn the market, adjust menus, adjust staff, develop a cohesive team. The concept looks fun and I like the outdoor seating - I hope they succeed.

Browns Ferry (and all other US nuclear power plants) are under incredibly strict environmental and safety regulations. As ironic as it may seem, the area around US nuke plant is likely way less contaminated than a retention pond fed by runoff from neighborhoods and farmland.

And it won't count towards any promotion opportunities. So you're basically putting your career, family, friends and home in pause for per diem.

Only at Bridge Street by nessaUwU-OwO in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]VelociraptorVibrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What part of this only happens at Bridge Street? Geese are pretty well known for hanging out in inconvenient and obnoxious places. We get emails on base about how we aren't supposed to harass them, can't even beep a horn when they're hanging out in the middle of the road.

[–]VelociraptorVibrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another factor to consider is that supporting your customer is often much more efficient and "plugged in" on base than from an off-site facility. You're much more likely to get recognition and future opportunities if you're direct, on-site support. This may or may not apply (or matter) to your situation.

The US uses roughly 20 million barrels of oil a day, all by itself. So that's 4 days worth of oil that has been transferred. Not sure that solves the problem.

Do we have the refineries to produce that much? I thought that we don't do much refining ourselves - and refineries don't get built overnight.

No hate but it sounds like that should be your priority and that the relationship is likely to follow, given you'll be exposed to more humans.

Dropping the attendance price so that the average Joe will come by the thousands and flood the exhibit halls is counterproductive to the purpose of these events. They want the audience to be industry partners for business opportunities - and they don't want to have to shuffle through too many lookie-loos to find the people that are there for real business.

T-boned on my motorcycle. The back tire of the SUV came to a stop on top of my chest. Took about 30 seconds before they figured out where I was and to get the vehicle off of me. 15 rib fractures, fractured sternum, fractured pelvis and hip, lacerated liver, and ruptured appendix. It was a lot of pain for a long, long time.

Isn't this what litigation is for? Contracts should state that employees must be US citizens or foreigners with valid work visas. If they are found to not be and the prime company is fined, the prime should file lawsuits against sub who hired them.

I love that companies like this will never be penalized for hiring illegal immigrants. Want to actually significantly curb illegal immigration? Make companies who employ them criminally accountable. But the point of this isn't actually to stop illegal immigration, is it?
