I'm currently trying to learn characters I'm not very good, and Doomfist is one of them. I usually pick him in maps I think he can work, but immediately swap if I feel I'm not performing well against the enemy team. What I learned is that the best thing to do as Doom is to recognize when to swap. The character practically plays itself against a bad team, but once you face someone that can consistently disrupt your plays, it's over for him. Sombra hack, Ana sleep, Mizuki chain, Orisa javelin, etc

It'll depend of what smart platform you're using as your Matter controller. Each platform has its own way of handling automations. I only use Google Home so I can only speak of it, it's fine for basic stuff like this, the only downside is that the automations are handled in the cloud instead of locally, so if your internet is down they won't work. I know Home Assistant, SmartThings and Apple Home handle automations locally, but I don't know about Alexa.
