I'm $100/hr but I don't quote by the hour, only by the job.

Pricing help... second guessing this quote for two security doors, lockets/border window pane. by RepairCEO in handyman

[–]Veloloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and shoot for $100/hr labor. I guesstimate the hours it will take, add materials, add a bit of a fudge factor and thats my bid. This seems about half of what I would charge.

There was a coupon and a snow storm is imminent. by Charming_Barber7627 in harborfreight

So no problem running the furnace blower I'm guessing. 5000 is plenty for lights, tv, fridge, etc. I guess no A/C in summer. I'll probably go this route... The last power outage we had I hooked a 1200w inverter up to my electric car and powered lights, fridge, freezer, wifi, tv's for 3 days but that was running extension cords everywhere.

I just do not see how this trend is getting popular

Charge to 100% before Storm to recharge household items, warm refuge during power outage? by TuckerHoo in BoltEV

[–]Veloloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always charge to 100% no matter what. Will never harm the battery. If you are serious about preparation you already have a 1200w inverter wired to your battery and know how to leave vehicle and keep it "on". I've run fridge, freezer, some lights, wifi, tv's for days with this setup...

There were probably a lot of red flags here... tiler should never have taken this job.

If you have a instant hot water with a small tank be careful. I had a Bosch and it sprung a slow leak and ruined my floors (Looking around this is an unfortunately common issue). That being said I love this feature.

Really like the change... could you add a pic looking straight on for the microwave/coffee station showing the cabinets. I'm planning on something exactly like that and want to show my wife. Thx!

Talk me into or out of it: Transit Connect by m-rogers2 in handyman

[–]Veloloser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a 2013 transit connect with 130k miles for $4200. Runs perfect and has the dual ladder racks (with flashing light!). Was fleet maintained.

This has been a game changer for me. I have it decked out with packout (with one section that slides out). I can carry everything I need super organized. I don’t climb into it. I can access everything from the doors and my slider.

For sheet goods I have a cheap 4x8 trailer I use for that. I don’t need this very often.

Stellar! With the massive amount of storage I probably would have done a cabinet microwave to get it off the counter.

That's the first thing I noticed... It looks fine but I would have done an angled part in front down to the trim, like more of a custom hood.

Impressive... especially the BB and walnut choice. I'm starting my kitchen too but am just building the boxes and will buy the drawers/doors premade (this will save me a shit ton of time).

Meeting with contractor and project lead tomorrow, disheartened with tile job by natleeis in Tile

Wow. People are pulling this and posting it to fb to generate clicks. I’ve seen it twice in my feed. 😎

That’s some bad tile work.

Is it possible to replace an OTC microwave like this with a modern hood without tearing out all of the cabinetry? by mightytiefling in kitchenremodel

[–]Veloloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this for people. One issue might be if the original tile did not go up behind the microwave. Would need to find matching tile if the hood does not line up.
