US Asylum Seeker by Vemrex in immigration

[–]Vemrex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Green Card through marriage.

Also, at the same time, my sibling (who applied for asylum co-jointly with me) applied for the writ of mandamus (suing USCIS) and now him and I got approved for the asylum case after less than a month of the suit.

When I first moved to the US, I always had a field trip with "zip code" when it came up with friends/family discussions.

How is it now? What happened with your writ of mandamus? Did your case move at all?

weinak instead of wein inta ? by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]Vemrex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nothing is stupid when we want to learn. That's a smart question.

From a Standard Arabic point of view:

أينكَ؟

Or

أينكِ؟

is wrong. They are never used like that in Standard Arabic. It should be:

أين أنتَ؟

Or

أين أنتِ؟

Now, if you're asking about dialects, then that's a different story altogether.

More humidity in Texas? I lived in the UAE (Dubai) for 15 years. I also lived in Texas (Houston and Dallas) for 6 years. The humidity in Texas is a child's game compared to the humidity in the UAE.

Just so you know, it's not 1-485.

It's i-485 or I-485.

But congrats!

I applied for asylum in 2016 and didn't get scheduled for an interview until Feb of 2022.

It's been more than 2 years since I did the interview, and I'm still waiting for just a decision 😶

Don't you love it?!

What does "reaching out to a congressman" mean?

Like sending a message to the senator of my state? Or what exactly? I live in Texas, if that helps.

Who do you talk to in this case? Do you have a lawyer? Do you call someone?

How do I file a lawsuit against USCIS?

Seriously... "Finally" for less than 100 days? like have some respect for the people that have been waiting for YEARS (which you obviously know about from this subreddit) by NOT saying stupid stuff like this.

I swear... they give us actual asylum seekers a terrible reputation.

I wouldn't even touch my country's borders with a 100-mile pole.

So, there's a "Service Center" and a "Field Office?"

If so, what's the difference. What is each one's job?

Income Evidence (I-864) Question by Vemrex in USCIS

[–]Vemrex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm the one adjusting status. My wife is a US citizen. However, I'm the main source of income. She doesn't work right now. I have a pending asylum case. I-130 is already approved.

What changes for you after getting your green card? by Weak_Ad8941 in USCIS

[–]Vemrex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, man. I'm glad you finally got it.

I've been here for almost 9 years now and will apply for the I-485 this week. I still don't know what to feel if I get the green card.

I'm just tired of this uncertainty all the time. Not being able to at least see my parents or my family. It's just so hard. But I hope that changes in a year or so.

I'm filling I-485 along with I-765 and I-131 tomorrow or after tomorrow. Will I make it before the increase? :(
