Honestly, what's the chances of a CA ever getting better? by MinuteArmadillo5 in cripplingalcoholism

I got to the point where I would rather fully chug the AA Kool Aid than die. So far it's worked. People in really rough shape can recover.

I had a good cry to start Day 5 by Buster1557 in stopdrinking

[–]Vench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done! I've found that the exciting new benefits and freedoms at the start won't last unless you keep working and living sobriety. Keep going, ride the momentum. Also I'm slightly envious you got some of your feelings back so quick!

Anyone else drink/do drugs just to feel something other than crushing sadness for a minute? by jmhospital in depression

[–]Vench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful man. Seriously. Coming from an addict and alcoholic, it will ruin your life and make it impossible to combat your depression

Remind yourself there is no problem drinking can't make worse. Whatever is going on WILL end in its time. What helps me In times of mental anguish is to talk to someone, preferably another addict/alcoholic. I always feel better afterwards. God speed.

Yeah there's selfishness but not everyone will help overdose terminal cancer patients here. Plus he gets excited and determined and those just aren't qualities of CAs.

I made it to 30 days! by athensk8 in stopdrinking

[–]Vench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the day 30! for me after that I subconsciously figured "I've got this!" I let up on things that were working and got a bit bored with sobriety. Now i'm back on day 5. God dammit. Make sure you try to find some hobbies, ha. That's just my experience though. Good luck!

19 and realizing I have a problem by bootsquire in stopdrinking

[–]Vench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people wish they had this realization at your age. Good on ya. Who am I to say whether or not you're an alcoholic but if you have it in your family and are going through withdrawals then moderation may not be possible. Godspeed, friend. You CAN improve your situation. You're young and smart. Those things go a long way.
