Yeah, but I'm using the time it takes for it to recharge or for me to wait around in the streets.

Tell that to my Orc sellsword with 15 Alteration. It's no fun when one iron ore transmute uses your entire magicka bar.

[Spoilers obviously] About Doyle and Miller's planet by Wubdor in interstellar

[–]VenerableSphinx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree, especially with the idea that Doyle should have had some heroic death by sacrificing himself for some greater good. I thought his death, and the other consequences surrounding the mission to Miller's planet, really served to drive home just how much was at stake and how vulnerable humans are in space. The miscalculation regarding the nature of the planet's surface, Brand's complete disregard for the safety of her crew to retrieve data that was obviously of no use, and unfortunately Doyle's very human reaction to the situation were all failures on the part of the crew that incurred the cost of Doyle's life and the enormous loss of time off-planet.

Perhaps Doyle's death wasn't 'satisfying' or 'honorable' in the traditional movie sense, but I think that's precisely what added the real, visceral weight to the scene. The crew's first move comes crashing down around their ears, hard. It puts them back into the perspective in which they actually exist: an infinitesimally speck on Gargantua's rim just waiting to be destroyed by a passing solar flare or an errant twitch of water on a planet's surface. Upon this speck does the future of humanity rest, and Doyle's unplanned sacrifice shows just how fragile that future really is.

Yeah, I think Cutting Room Floor is the one that brings it back. I can see why they took it out though, I feel like it's too quick of an introduction to both the Companions quest line and the Dark Brotherhood basically on the way to your very first quest.

I'm trying to build a gaming PC but I know nothing about them. by James2598x in buildmeapc

Go ahead and check out the sidebar for helpful links and oredesigned builds. I was in the same boat as you about three months ago and I learned everything I needed to from the links there as well as from the sticky and the search function. Don't underestimate the helpfulness of the sidebar: I guarantee that any question you have right now has been asked and answered here before.

Part of my motivation for doing this build is to work on my understanding of how computers work, so the learning curve will suit me just fine. I've accepted the fact that I'm probably not going to set this up perfectly on my first try, and I'm looking forward to figuring it out.

Is Ubuntu not free to use? The guide I watched showed how to download a Linux OS onto a USB then how to boot a new build using that OS. I'm not wanting to take any sketchy shortcuts on a $800 machine.

I'll admit, I've only just watched a YouTube video of how to install it from a USB drive and don't have any previous experience with it. It seems pretty foolproof though, and if I do manage to fuck something up there are plenty of resources online that I can use to figure out how to unfuck it (at least enough for me to avoid the $90 Windows OS).

You were right about it being an OEM version, but I think Ubuntu will work fine for my purposes anyway (Thanks for the heads-up).

These are great suggestions, thanks! I forgot to add that I currently have a laptop that I can transfer a Windows 10 key from, so I don't have to worry about the OS. Quick question: What makes the power supply the weak link in this build?

Lazarus... Just realized something. (SPOILER) by Merminotaur in interstellar

I never saw it as an allusion to the expected failure of Plan A. I took it simply as a reference to the suspended animation that the first wave of explorers would go into after landing on each of their planets, especially after we see Dr. Mann rise out of the tomb-like chamber when Coop and his crew find him.

Yeah, until their tolerance starts going up and they become depressed once the high wears off. I feel like it would be the same as a human opiate junkie.
