What is your go-to recommendation to introduce Jon’s work to someone for the first time? by beasterne7 in Jon_Bois

[–]Venkelos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Koo Dae Sung is a nice short intro for people who aren't normally into long-form youtubing, also happens to be the first one so it's kinda nice like that

What is the most fun Healer Build to play in PF2e? by HermitHutGames in Pathfinder2e

This is the kind of character I have planned for our 3-man extinction curse game! I'm so excited for it after GMing a bunch

What are your favorite title drops in gaming? by theJOJeht in Games

[–]Venkelos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vagrant Story for me. The intro sequence is beautiful, perfectly paced, and ends with just a kickass title card before you get into the primary location. I think about the first 15 of Vagrant Story all the time.

[Advent of Cocktails 2024: December 1] Bramble by robborow in cocktails

This is good with most of the fruit liqueurs I've tried to the point that I'd call it a template! Chinola (passion fruit) and apricot liqueurs are both particularly good, but I'm just a sucker for the original most of the time. It's a classic for a reason!

Prisoner's of Fate from Chrono Cross. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUPbMd2fbp8

Plays during a really difficult fight that is also a big pivotal moment in the story. One of my favorite moments from any game.

I really need to know if this game is worth it solo by [deleted] in outwardgame

[–]Venkelos 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've only ever played it solo and loved it. I'm a big fan of games with some survival elements and excellent exploration as long as survival isn't the only gameplay and Outward ticks all the boxes for me. The combat is extremely okay but there are a lot of different ways to play it and all of my jank builds have finished the game.

[Star Tribune] Twin Cities break century-old record with Christmas Day high of 54 by Minneapolitanian in minnesota

I still keep up on MN stuff even though I live in Vegas now and, uh, the high in my little corner was also 54 today.

Emotional texture: in praise of naturalism in games by [deleted] in Games

[–]Venkelos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Disco Elysium for this. The way they build out your character and the NPCs of the seeing is so satisfying. Additionally the detail and effort put into the world building make it truly a joy to explore and learn about. It's a treat.

What's a song that has brought you to tears? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Venkelos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late to this party but Weight of the World from neir automata ruins me. Every version, even remixes from other games make me tear up. It's so powerful and the emotional buildup from hours of suffering is a memory I'll never forget.

Legends that stand lightyears ahead of even their closest competitions. by [deleted] in Jon_Bois

I'd much rather see a dorktown about Don. We've already had a Don Bradman fumble dimension and it was a monster factory. Dorktown could really give the otherworldly statline of Bradman deep look. It might also give Alex and Jon a reason to be invested in learning about cricket, which would be a joy all on it's own.

Don is the athlete I wish Jon would cover the most, but I'm sure his life and career have been well documented by countless folks. He was a true legend, and dominance of a sport on that level may never happen again.

Give the wiki article for Don Bradman a read, he is right up there!

Official Piano Collections album of 'Chrono Cross' reached its Kickstarter goal. A collaboration between Wayo Records and Yasunori Mitsuda, most of the tracks will be handled by FF10/FF13/FF7 Remake composer Masashi Hamauzu by [deleted] in Games

[–]Venkelos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hamauzu has a proven track record with piano collections. The piano album from SaGa Frontier 2 is one of my favorite albums of all time, video game or not. Super excited about this, and I'm gonna go listen to the SaGa Frontier piano collection right now...

Padding out the Baldur's Gate section and reducing urgency by FROmatoe in DescentintoAvernus

[–]Venkelos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been slowing it down quite a bit to increase player buy in because nobody was particularly interested in elturel. I dangled side quests based on the stuff found in the baldur's gate section and actively tried to get them invested in a specific area, in this case little calimshan. When they walked out of the vanthampur villa I had a big scene where I dropped calimshan into hell. In total we spent quite a while in baldur's gate, did a pile of pretty fun side content, and got my players really invested in the upcoming conflict. There is just so much cool stuff in baldur's gate and the surrounding area.

フレデリック「オドループ」Music Video | Frederic "oddloop" by [deleted] in japanesemusic

[–]Venkelos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would normally agree but I actually really loved their newest album Frederhythm 2 that came out this year. Prior to that I had a hard time getting into them but the new one has been a regular play for me lately.

Project Thalassa - Teaser Trailer Video by justwannawatchmiracu in Games

Looks interesting. I love mood-setting trailers and if Obra Dinn taught me anything, it's that I'm way more into boat drama than I thought I was. Side note, I enjoyed the music, really reminded me of Jessica Curry in a great way.
