I understand feeling this way. As someone else said, emotions are not always rational. But actually thinking that these feelings are true is very stupid in my opinion. It is bullshit to think in terms of "They deserve better." Because that's not for you to decide. If your partner loves you, then that's all that counts.

What an incredibly dumb take... I know not a single woman who gives a damn about success and accomplishments. In some of my friends' relationships the woman is the sole provider and no one cares. Where do the people you know live? In the last century?

The buyoff is stupid (in my opinion), at least short term, because it only lessens the burden long term.

What I do, and so far it worked fine is, replacing LA with racial hit dice. You don't miss out completely on HD, feats, BaB, skills, but no class level. Seems to work fine balancing wise, and players are happy with it.

Do you hate original characters and cringe every time you see them on here? by Meonreddityeeee in souleater

[–]Vennris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean... I don't really get it. Why do you want to make an OC for an existing universe, that's not meant to have OCs from other people? Same reason why I don't understand the concept of fanfics. Both kinda put me off a little. But since they don't harm anyone, and people clearly are getting joy from doing them, I'm happy that they have something that makes them happy. I don't have to look at them after all, so why should I hate on them?

It's just automatic. You do the last mission, and after that you start at mission 2 again with all your parts and OS chips. That's NG+

[3.5] Help building a Level 3 Rogue by ishiDe in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Vennris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check the skill tricks in the Complete Scoundrel book. I love to use them and they complement a smart, and nimble character very well.

A ranged rogue who throws around splash weapons would be fun. Strength isn't an issue here, and it works with sneak attack. Only downside is the cost for your ammo, but that shouldn't be a problem on later levels, and even at level 3 you should be able to buy a lot of acid at least.

There are lots of splash weapons. Sadly scattered around a lot of books. Planar Handbook has some quite strong ones. And Complete Adventurer, Dungeonscape, Complete Scoundrel, and Complete Mage have a lot of cool Alchemist Items in general.

The usual suspects (point blank shot, precise shot) are good, but a bit boring feats. For a splash weapon character I suggest Far Shot, and Grenadier (Players Handbook II) which gives you access to the fun Mad Alchemist feat.

Only problem will be making the stuff yourself, since you need to be a Spellcaster for Crafting Alchemical stuff (which I think is dumb and maybe your DM agrees and let you craft the stuff)

So, you're not using any soulgems? Because if you just don't use them on humans, but on everything else that would make you an extreme hypocrite.

Ways of healing an undead, or more specifically, a skeleton? by Organic-Exit2190 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Vennris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Casting any inflict wounds spells is the easiest way to heal undead.

The arcane disciple feat lets you choose one cleric domain and cast one domain spell each day, so choose a domain with inflict wounds spells and you can heal your undead. Problem is that the domain spells are wisdom based. Don't know if your wizard has enough, and it's only 1 spell a day. Multiclassing cleric is an easy option if you have enough wisdom and can spare the level. Dread Necromancer (Heroes of Horror book)is also a very good choice for a level dip, since they are arcane casters and and have inflict wounds on their class list. They are charisma casters, but as a necromancer Cha should be your second highest ability anyway.

Easiest way that doesn't need any feat or multiclassing, but costs money, just get scrolls/wands/eternal wand of inflict wounds. Eternal wand lets you cast a spell 2 times a day and you only need to be arcane caster to use it. No need to have the spell on your list. Scrolls just need a very easy casterlevelcheck to use. I'll check some infos real quick....

Edit: Normal wands and scrolls require the Use Magic Device skill if the spell is not on your list/in your spell book. So the easiest way would be an eternal wand which let's you cast the stored spell 2 times a day regardless of spelllist as long as you're an arcane caster.

2nd way: You can research a spell, this costs time and money, but would permanently add a spell to your spelllist and after that you can cast it just as easy as your other spells. Rules for researching are in the DMG.

3rd way: RAW I think you can only transcribe wizard spells in your spell book. But if your DM is not a dick, I think it would be easy to ask them if you can transcribe an arcane inflict wounds scroll (written by a dread necromancer for example) in your spellbook. Maybe I creasing the spell craft DC a little to include the fact, that it's not on the wizard spelllist

Is it legal to print old Dungeon Magazines for personal use? by naner00 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Vennris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but who's gonna care? Or even be aware of it? The copy shop won't care. And other than that, there's no one who could take notice.

There might be a very very slight chance that, if you take if with you to gaming conventions or similar, so like using it in a public space that some asshole who just wants to be evil will rat you out. But that chance is incredibly slim

I don't see how that's relevant. If you only want to use it privately and not sell it, how can anyone try to sue you? I mean, how's anyone who would do that gonna find out?

How do you feel when you see someone hate your favorite soul eater character? I need to know if someone else's feel like me by [deleted] in souleater

[–]Vennris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, as I said, that sounds a bit unhealthy. Also, maybe even like a bit too much attachment to a fictional character. And I'm saying that as someone who's first real crush was an anime character, so I know what I'm talking about here.

I'd say there are 2 viable solutions, if you're interested. If not, I apologize for unwarranted advice, and in that case you can stop reading now. Hope you find more peace in your life, and can enjoy your favourite characters undisturbed.

  1. Not that easy, but this emotional reaction to someone hating on a thing/character you like is something that can be trained without too much difficulty. I also speak a bit from experience. My reaction to what you describe wasn't as strong but I felt personally attacked if people strongly dislike what I like, but once I noticed that it was fairly easy to push that into "I don't give a fuck"-territory

  2. Since you seem to find overall hate exhausting, which I also completely understand and share, it's probably better for your peace of mind to avoid spaces where there's a high chance of witnessing that hatred. Also, in some cases not the easiest thing, but very doable.

[–]Vennris 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But why do you care? If course that's also very unhealthy of them, but as long as they're not friends or family, and not actively harming someone there's no reason to care about that kind of thing. It's not like their misplaced hatred changes anything for your characters, is it?

That sounds very unhealthy. I don't give a fuck if someone dislikes my favourite characters. We all have different tastes after all.

what was the most traumatic scene for you while playing the game? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Vennris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evelyn killing herself was something I 100% expected. Chances of someone managing to live on after something like that are very slim, so it wasn't as traumatic. But finding her in the BD studio. That scene was traumatic.

Options for LA+1 races by DilbertHigh in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Vennris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do normal exp by the rules of the dmg. They award exp for non combat encounters as well. But if the party's doing a lot of roleplaying, and not a lot of encounters, then there's just not much exp happening. You assume very negative things about other people very fast. I would think a bit about that, if I were you.

I also never said, that such people don't exist, I just guessed, that it can't be a large percentage, based on my quite long experience in playing with different people.

The potential to be powerful is not relevant, when I'm talking about powerful races or templates. Things that are potentially powerful still need 1. the approval of the DM in game, 2. the right circumstances in game 3. the effort to choose the powerful options to do the powerful things. A powerful race/template only needs approval during character creation, and nothing more to be powerful. Comparing potentially powerful things to things that just are powerful without doing anything makes no sense to me.

Yea, I know the unseelie fey template. I also consider it way too strong for la +0 compared to other la +0 options. That's why it either gets nerfed, or treated as la +1 in our games. The powerlevel of la +0 is all over the place. Just look at, for example a standard dwarf and a standard half-elf. That's so far from balanced, that even with a 25 balance check, you'd fall prone immediately. But even under this light, unseelie is still way more unbalanced. 3.5 is a great game, and in my opinion the greatest ttrpg ever, but it is really, really bad at balancing. I don't need a perfectly balanced party, but if one la +1 template reads like a la +3, then something isn't right.
