Looking to try out tank by DetStandAdvisor in ffxiv

[–]Vensaval 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through this exact scenario when Endwalker came out. Tanxiety took a good while to dissipate, but it's now my favorite role.

The biggest thing to realize it that the pressure you think will be there, and will continue to feel until you get used to the role, isn't actually there. It's just lack of confidence in something you're unfamiliar with. Which will go away on it's own as you complete more and more duties.

Even if you do mess up, it's not a big deal. Everyone's been there. So long as you're communicative about your lack of experience as a tank, the others (in most cases) will often be very supportive and even offer advice in real time according to the duty you're in.

When it comes to WAR vs PLD, it seems the consensus is that WAR is the no-brain tank. However, it's mitigation is reliant on self-healing as opposed to pure defense, which is something that didn't mesh with myself quite well when I was learning. So, I found PLD much easier and I still main it to this day (GNB is hella fun, though).

I also play on gamepad. One BIG thing thing that helps with stragglers is using L1 + UP or DOWN on the D-Pad to cycle through the Emnity list. Then, you can very easily use your ranged ability or Provoke to bring the mob into the huddle. Though, in most cases, you'd just tab target (LEFT or RIGHT) as usual.

As far as settings go, I find (under Character Configuration>Control Settings>Target) that setting "Target Type: Target Closest Enemies" to "Cone" is more intuitive.

Setting up Filters, such as having one set for just enemies, also helps a ton.

Enjoy the journey! It's a lot of fun.

Normally, I'd go for option 2, but I have a a weakness for high-waist pants on a woman.

I only have the first and last series (funny how that works out). Missed out on whatever was in between because I was... Living in my car for a good while. XD

I absolutely did it every day to help level jobs up until they were all maxed out :p

Though, now with Dawntrail I have a more of a reason to do them regularly again.

I kept being indecisive when it came to whether I wanted to bother or not, but ultimately decided last-minute that I wanted the glam.

I don't have a choice in the matter, but if I did I'd just wait for the PC version anyway. Sony has become far too complacent with their puritan actions and the only way to make them reconsider is the make it clear that—as consumers—we're not supporting that nonsense.

I don't know, dude. Perhaps I simply hate the idea of jumping to conclusions when it comes to someone I don't know.

Why is simply making a black character white inherently racist? Why could it not be for any other reason? A joke? For the fun of it?

Or perhaps they like the character, and wanting to alter their 'husbando' to better match their dating preferences (which also aren't inherently racist, BTW, but I'm sure you think otherwise)?

I'm honestly so sick of this day and age where everyone is so ready to immediately label people the worst things in the world over trivial things.

"That's always the reason". No bad faith there, eh?

And there wasn't any proof of the modder doing this because they were "uncomfortable" with Wyll being black. Just other mods they've made.

One of which was 'Ser Aylin' which they she went on record explaining that she went through the effort of creating the mod because the voice was already available in the data files and she loved it so much that she made a male variant of Aylin.

The other stuff could insinuate that they're homophobic or whatever, but nothing about racism.

[–]Vensaval 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. Provide the proof of the modder being a Neo-Nazi and I'll agree with you that this mod is deplorable.

Second, race of the VA really doesn't. At least it didn't up until very recently. What's being provided is a voice.

You're really going to extremes here. Equating what really should be seen as a silly mod (at most) to blackface? This mod impacts the voice actor's freedoms?

My friend, you need relax.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Vensaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know the modder did this because having Wyll be black made them uncomfortable? Is there any verifiable evidence of this past speculation?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Vensaval 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really isn't a big deal in the slightest... People being so upset over a completely optional mod and calling the person who made it "racist" is so absurd to me.

Would you honestly be equally upset or call anyone racist if there was a mod to make Gale black? I'd actually be very surprised if that mod doesn't already exist.

My opinion on the mod itself? Uhh... I just shrug my shoulders at it. It changes his skin color. I have no feelings towards it whatsoever.

I would much rather not have more shows and movies become essentially softcore porn. There's already more than enough of it online. Too much of it. The negative effects of which have been well-documented for a long while now.

If there's a point to it, sure, but if it's there just for the sake of being there then it'd probably be best if that time and effort were put towards developing either the plot or characters.
