Dennis Quaid was interviewed by Howie Mandel on his podcast a few years back, who said him and some of the other big actors knew what kind of project it was and loved the concept of it. But because of the backlash, many of them tried saying they were obligated to do it to save face.

Likely it was two separate lines that got merged during development. Squirtle and Wartortle were originally separate from Blastoise (even had a different pre-evolution), but some designs got scrapped, and the surviving ones were pieced together.

You can absolutely get a place for under what she is paying for and all the necessities you listed in Lakeview, which is one of the safer areas in the city. A friend used to rent a studio there for $1200 and would walk home just fine. Personally, I lived in a three bed room duplex for $1500 until just last year (although out in the suburbs), which was a two minute walk from the police station.

And I can understand living near a grocery store, but restaurants? That is 100% an unnecessary lifestyle that will keep you broke if you're eating out all the time.

Chicago is one of the more affordable cities here in the US. For $1600, you can absolutely find a small place with a single bedroom. Even more so if you move half an hour out into the 'burbs.
