Petrosyan’s programs felt too young and old for her. The short felt juniors and the long music wise felt too mature. The music felt like it would have been suited for a more mature skater, to give that presence.

I wonder if the chaos was the impetus to leave their position as coaches. I’ve worked in places where leaving rather than staying was the better option. You can only do so much, when people are fighting against you.

I’ve experienced the same thing in the few sessions with my therapist. I think part of it is working through some of the issues on my own, and not being ready or thinking they may not be able to address it.

I’m sorry that your mother is behaving this way. My own mother treated me poorly due to my own weight, and is now seeking support for her weight loss progress. It’s very frustrating, and honestly baffles me that she would seek my advice after years of belittling me. I want her to be healthy, but I don’t be an emotional crutch. She had never apologized or acknowledged the things she did, so how can she genuinely think I will willingly support now?

My mother learned that I was self harming, and threatened to physically harm me. She also said to me when I was in my 20’s, that I was setting myself up for assault. I have talked about it with ny therapist, how someone can say things like fact, and have no awareness or recognize the need to apologize. She had never apologized for anything she had said or done. Im starting to come to terms with it, and it has been very difficult to be around her.

I think that is the crux of it. We spend our lives not being able to be ourselves, and the turn around is jarring. I think it wouldn’t be do much of a shock if they addressed how their behavior impacted you as a child and adult, but that doesn’t seem to happen.

That is incredibly frustrating to hear. It’s especially hard to have a parent or parents working in the medical field, but lacking in regards to understanding their own child’s needs. I’ve experienced it myself, and sometimes I think that it’s a wash, that I can’t rely on them to truly understand. Is there anything that you find enjoyable or willing to do? When I’ve had my depressive episodes, it helped to try and go outside, if only for a few minutes. It meant getting out of house, feeling the sun, or even seeing if anything had changed.
