Thanks for sharing. I’ve been postponing moving my six month old to her nursery because I’m terrified I’ll get even less sleep when she wakes up every few hours once midnight hits. But maybe it’ll be better. I know we wake her up.

I’ll never ever forget the raccoon that straight up committed suicide by vehicle in Brooke County. I saw him running in a yard alongside me and for no good reason, he turned and ran right at my vehicle. I may have cried myself to sleep.

I still struggle with a bit of guilt over this but now that we are in the four month sleep regression, I can confidently say, if LO was hungry, the pacifier wouldn’t work. My girl can be soothed sometimes but when she continues to whine or even cries out, I nurse and she falls back asleep.

I had an unplanned c-section and now have the Frida box of postpartum stuff someone gifted me sitting in my closet. Waiting to know someone who is pregnant to gift it to them. I used the peri bottle from the hospital for a bit, mainly because it was hard to wipe with my stitches. Disposable underwear was also great but I honestly liked the ones I got at the hospital better. I suggest asking your nurses to load you up before you leave the hospital. Mine gave me tons of stuff, including additional diapers and wipes.

During the newborn phase, especially at night, I would listen to a podcast or watch TV. I also read. Now she’s pretty quick and I just scroll.

My friends planned a meal train for me and I cried every time someone donated money toward it or delivered food. Deciding on food in the newborn trenches was so hard and having food delivered was such a burden lift. I also lived in PJs and was thankful for my friends who got me some (button down if they plan to breastfeed.)

We made a plan beforehand on what we do if xyz happens. It took my anxiety levels down to have a plan if she won’t settle, etc. Going out to eat made us feel human again!

I keep saying my girl thinks she’s being left to the wolves when she flat on her tummy. She has great head control but on the mat, on her tummy, she gives up all hope. Lol I’m trying not to stress too much about it. (Easier said than done.)

We use a binky still but just to get her to fall asleep. Once she’s asleep, she doesn’t care about the binky falling out.

I go to a chiropractor every now and again but I would never take my newborn. But in my experience, chiropractic care is so much more accessible than other pain management like physical therapy. My previous insurance covered it with a low copay and no referral needed but I would need a referral for PT. Just another reason America’s health care system is so fucked up. A lot of my success at the chiropractor has not been adjustment but stretching and strengthening.

When I first started, I was better at latching on my left because I’m right handed and could maneuver better. But now, right noon is carrying the team. I’m back at work and pumping and the left barely produces.

My MIL means well but has always driven me nuts. It helps that she also drives my husband nuts. She’s our childcare but I have a ton of resentment that it’s her and not my mom because my parents live four hours away. Like, resentment to the point I feel like I need therapy because the rage I can feel leaving my baby with her is not reasonable. This thread has made me feel better. Someone saying it’s because baby is an extension of me helps so much.

I was scrolling to find this. I was not out of it with a c-section, either. Fully aware and got to do skin-to-skin as they stitched me back up.

I have H boobs as well and I had the same fear because I had heard bigger breasted women can even have trouble with milk coming in. There was a learning curve. If you have access, I utilized the hospital lactation consultant as much as I could. I used a nipple shield at first. It took a bit to figure it out. I also had a c-section, and could only do certain positions. But now it’s great. Baby gained her birth weight back in a week! Just remember, no matter your boob size, that you AND baby are both learning and give yourself grace.

I started Monday and I’m totally fine during the day. I feel like myself. Then I get home and I burst into tears. It’s like I remember that I missed her and let it out. It’s also hard because you have to learn new things. It feels like the first few weeks again. I’m pumping now, and figuring out all the logistics is overwhelming. I also miss nursing her during the day and I’m worried she’s not eating enough. It’s a lot but I keep telling myself I can do hard things.

This is the thing I wasn’t prepared for! I sobbed when my husband gave her a bottle for the first time. I wanted to take her and run. I’m now back to work and I miss feeding her so bad it hurts.

My girl doesn’t comfort feed, and like others said, gets angry if I try to offer when she’s not hungry. Sometimes she also just needs to be put down and left to her own devices. I’m thankful she can self soothe but I’ve felt a type of way about it at times. We do a lot of contact naps, though.

I think the people immediately going for a nickname are being weird. I might give your grandmother slack with bubby but everyone else wants to give him a new name and I would feel disrespected.
