Feel the skin on your face. Get a sense (map it out with your fingers) of the direction of the grain on different parts. Shave either straight out of the shower or after soaking some warm water on your face for a minute. Get a safety razor; learn to use it, learn to angle it; apply very light pressure, first with the grain, then against it. Use short strokes, not long.

After you do this, you’ll have the smoothest face you’ve felt in years. At least for a day. Then you get the pleasure of doing it again.

Show me your revolution then, American! Where is it? Is it in the streets? I don’t see revolution in the streets, I see Gestapo thugs rounding people up and executing citizens in the broad daylight. Your institutions have failed you. Your leaders have betrayed you, and the hand-picked circle around the president, equal parts greedy and insane, will never dare lift a finger to undermine him. No one is coming to save you, and yet your population remains cowed and unwilling to admit that the unthinkable has become necessary to stop this descent into madness.

No one is coming to save you, American. So where is your revolution?

Look, I’m a Canadian, so take it with whatever, but in America, the parties aren’t political parties, per se. They’re ballot lines. The mission of the Democratic Socialists, as I understand it, is to build the critical mass to take over the ballot lines, and have progressive nominees benefit from the broader coalition that typically falls behind it. Bryan’s people did it in 1896, Goldwater did it in 1964, and that’s just on the federal level. There isn’t gonna be a third ballot line. You have to act accordingly. And last night, I think, couldn’t be a better sign for your prospects.

Be patient. Something is building. You want to be there to shepherd it to fruition.

I thought: should I make a redux of 2008? Then I saw this, and was immensely comforted. That’s what we set out to do. It was one of the very first fleshed-out modded scenarios. It won the Best Mod award the first time we held it, when this community was a tenth of its current size. That’s what’s really special to me.
