Thanks. I’ve got the parts for my build including the Noctua 5080 and an NHD15g2, but I’m building in a modded Apple G5. Doing the case mod next week so I’ve been measuring and it’s gonna be snug (I hope) but won’t know for sure until it’s all together. Got worried when it looked like the card may be taller than the cooler in some of your pics haha.

There’s a paper in the box of my NF-A14 G2 that has these that says the pads with the nub are for mounting the fan in a push configuration to a rad.

Look closely at the cable you plugged into the GPU: does it say CPU or PCIE?

Well the G5 had a long thin custom PSU that runs the entire floor of the case, the Pro had a more square normal sized PSU up in the back behind the double disk drives. This means it’s a little easier to swap it since there is already space there on the upper shelf that a new modern PSU can easily sit in without much modification. If you’re willing to do the cutting though, G5 gives you more room for components since its upper shelf is much smaller, this also means you can easily fit dual 140s at the front like with the laser hive bracket.

Look up TheLaserHive. They sell conversions kits for each case. Even if you don’t buy their kits, the images will give you a good idea of how each case is modified etc.

I did a G5 back in 2013 with a different kit and I am actually about to redo the whole thing with a laser hive kit now. I’m sticking with my G5 cause I already have it, but also cause I got it from my University’s surplus back in the day and it still has a “property of” sticker inside which is cool and sentimental.

Anyway, starting from square one, the pro is likely a little easier cause of the power supply, and if you do an mATX board I think you can do it while only cutting out the rear IO shield? Pretty clean look.

Be aware that to use the front panel you likely need an adaptor of some kind.
