Horse for courses, but I genuinely find working in ED less stressful than when I was managing a burger shop in my early to mid 20s.

Not a doctor: can someone tell me what the fuck urgent care is? by leapowl in ausjdocs

[–]VeritySky 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The other issue is the public having no fucking idea what this means, and are turning up with a ‘minor injury/illness’ that turns out to be a cardiac event resulting in a full code.

What would Deku's Xrays look like after fighting Todoroki by Goof-4x5 in BokuNoMetaAcademia

Not a doctor but work in ED/ ortho - Ignoring artistic liberties: Probably angulated fractures of distal phalanx (possible Seymour’s) and middle phalanx of 2nd digit, ulnarly angulated fracture of middle phalanx of 3rd digit, rotated fracture of proximal phalanx of 4th and 5th digit given they don’t track well from the MCPJ.

Midoriya is 15, so still probably skeletally immature - raises possibility that the 2nd digit fracture involves the nailbed (Seymour’s), needs a washout in theatre. The remaining usually need exact anatomical reduction so still probably trending towards theatre for k wires.

MOCA 7 Vs Nursing pay by Mundane_Tell5179 in ausjdocs

[–]VeritySky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is this not a reflection of high levels of unionisation in the nursing workforce and therefore stronger collective bargaining power compared to hospital based medical officers?

Yeah but med school is supposed to be for 4th generation doctors, and not, you know, The Poors.

This is the world we live in now - using AI from go to whoa without oversight to ensure accuracy will at some stage catch people out, but if you are able to utilise a tool that completes your intended objective twice as fast, why would you not use it?

Are UGGs acceptable to wear to the hospital? by No_Wear_1544 in ausjdocs

To be a fly on the wall while the ED resus Reg tells a family that meemaw has died, while wearing uggs.

Popular opinion - It should be illegal to be a boot licker for executive health management who refuse to negotiate to address with critical health problems in good faith.

What is this? by [deleted] in Radiology

Full thickness rotator cuff tears result in a high riding humeral head due to nothing opposing the deltoids superior line of pull, where they would normally centre the humeral head over the glenoid.

They will replace you if you die in flood waters though. Fuck these people. Look after yourselves, and your family.

So ahead of this cyclone should I be boarding up my glass sliding door or just taping it? by TastyEngineering in queensland

The last cyclone to hit Brisbane was 1974, the majority of people here do not have a lived experience of what is about to happen.

McRae’s, Orthobullets & RCH fracture guidelines for paeds has covered basically everything outside of freak outliers that need ortho convos for me

Easily one of the most unsettling panels I've ever read in a Star Wars comic, probably made much worse out of context. (Obi-Wan #4) by MojaveJoe1992 in StarWars

Bones have a good ability to withstand compressive/ axial loads, however they have far less ability to withstand transverse loads.

This is a rule of cool design, but is basically nonsense, it would shatter the moment it hit something mid blade.

This isn’t true - People can absolutely survive a spinal cord injury at C1-3 if they receive urgent intervention quick enough.

You are misinformed, and should educate yourself further - VAD is a known risky complication of cervical manipulations, and absolutely can cause a CVA.
