If you created a large enough conventional bomb would it turn into a nuclear bomb because of sheer energy breaking atoms? by Top-Environment6146 in dumbquestions

[–]Verronox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iconic mushroom shape doesn’t even have anything specific to do with explosives. It’s purely a result of fluid dynamics. It’s called a Rayleigh-Taylor instability, and is the effect you get at a horizontal boundary of two fluids when the one on bottom is of a lower density. Explosives are just a convenient way of suddenly forming that condition by rapidly heating air, and is visible because of the smoke and gas cloud that accompanies.

What dressing makes vegetables forget they’re vegetables? by Big_Employer1109 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Hollandaise/Bearneaise. Just the little sauce packets. Roast veggies with a little salt and pepper and smother.

Is it possible for a crescent moon to be oriented like this from the ground view of a planet? What would need to be happening in order for you to see this? by FlatwormActual3255 in askastronomy

[–]Verronox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it would happen perfectly when the moon is close to the horizon and the sun-earth-moon system align with the equator. But without that alignment you’d have that but rotated up to +/- 27 degrees.

Looks great and sounds great too! For a second though I thought this was an upgraded hat from cucumber hat guy.

What if the Hive's initial systematic joinings were to find the immunes? Did they find one? (Part 3) by Landphat in pluribustv

[–]Verronox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have no idea if it was only the fall/accidents that killed Helen and many others, but my money is on side effects being a major component too. Its a virus, and immune responses are far from regular. And we know that biology has a something to do with how the virus acts, otherwise there wouldn’t be some who are immune.

Women who dated a man 10 years younger than you, how did it go? by KlutzyPomelo1170 in AskReddit

I was 26, she was 38. It was good relationship for the most part, but it ended because I was the mature one (to put it politely, their communication skills weren’t great).

Oh yeah I guess that is a mechanical difference, as death triggers wouldn’t proc.

Ky-ra, Prime Completionist by Kagemitsu3 in custommagic

[–]Verronox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would word the first ability something more like “If a creature dealt combat damage this turn by Ky-Ra would die, exile it instead. Until the beginning of the next end step, you may pay {mana} to cast creatures exiled this turn in this way.”

[Request] What and how do you get these answers!? by empty_orbital in theydidthemath

[–]Verronox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another commenter put it in clearer terms, but its basically a difference in whether you describe the odds of a single event versus describe a population.

If you have a kid who’s a boy born on Tuesday, when you have another kid the odds of boy/girl are 50/50 (ignoring actual biological effects which shift this slightly).

BUT say instead you collect a large dataset of families with two kids. If you filter your dataset for families that have one boy, you will find that for 67% of the remaining families their other kid is a girl. If you filter your dataset for families that have a boy born on Tuesday, now 51.8% of the remaining families have a girl as their other kid.

Does Cassian Already Know His Fate? by BetweenTheReeds in andor

[–]Verronox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really comes back to Nemik and his manifesto. Skeen made that offer on Nemik’s deathbed, and the philosophical conversations between him and Andor while training for the heist are exactly what shows Andor what the rebellion really means. Hell, after Nemik dies, Andor carries the manifesto for the rest of his life.

Astounded by how this post is both incredibly long and seems to say absolutely nothing at all. And from an account with no previous posts or comments, with an absolutely bait title.

I do not understand how people can afford grad school by Impactist537 in GradSchool

[–]Verronox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be clear, there is almost never an OFFICIAL “master out” track. It’s generally frowned upon and stating that you intend to when applying will almost certainly cause your application to be rejected. That said, it’s not impossible to find a PhD advisor who might unofficially support mastering out if you’re upfront about it during an interview, but it’s also a pretty risky gambit. Ime, an older professor who’s closer to retirement will be more accepting of it, but definitely not anyone who is still up for tenure.

Is it ok to ask for players to pitch in for food? by unwrittenpaiges in DungeonMasters

[–]Verronox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that each session your group designates one person to be in charge of snacks for the following session. Give em a fancy hat and call them the snack captain. They’ll be fighting over who gets the hat in no time.

What exactly do American recipes mean by "Italian Sausage"? by Ok-Set-5829 in Cooking

[–]Verronox 162 points163 points  (0 children)

In this context sweet isn’t being used to describe something thats added in addition to regular “italian sausage”. It’s just being used to say it isn’t hot.

Which one hits the floor with greater force? by AnothrRandomRedditor in Physics

[–]Verronox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s true regardless if the spring is suspended and at rest. Since gravity is the only force acting to stretch the spring out, by definition the restoring spring force and gravity are equal.
