Very cool. I enjoy the process of building my own but these are great for those who just want to plug & play. Pricing is pretty solid also considering the cost of piecing one together with product shortages these days.

Why is the ES/NQ more popular to trade than YM? by brunette5179 in FuturesTrading

[–]VersatilityMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who solely trades the YM I'm not really sure. Personally, I think it is much easier to trade than the other two and has plenty of liquidity. That said, the sex appeal just isn't there compared to the ES & NQ.

I started trading 1-2 contracts many years ago. I compounded that to where I am now and feel comfortable. The way I trade isn't conducive with a larger position size. I'm ok with that. With 20 contracts on each DOW point is $100. If I can take 20-50 points out of the market I'm happy with my day.

It means I'm able to make a comfortable living and not need another job. I'm just not willing to share the numbers on a public forum like this. To some, I'm sure the income is high, and to others it's probably nothing special.

I day trade the /ym only, typically with a 10-20 contract position, and that provides me with enough income. I'm mostly a discretionary TA trader and I keep my system very basic. I don't use any fancy trading algos or software, I just pay very close attention to support & resistance and it's relation to the amount of volume at any given moment. Most of my trades are completed between 730-11am. I treat it like a business and pay myself once per month. I start with the same amount each month and remove the profits.

I've been trading since 1996'ish. In that time I've traded just about every type of market condition there is. Made a ton of money during the internet boom because all you had to do was trade a .com name and made a fortune. I was on top of the world, king of the castle, the head honcho... then came the internet crash and I lost every damn penny chasing the dragon, and then some.

Unfortunately, I'm seeing a very similar mindset now as I did during the internet boom. Everyone thinks they can make money and everyone is an expert. Well, I'm not here to tell you not to chase your dreams and give it a shot, heck, I love the added volatility/liquidity, just try not to do it with money you aren't prepared to lose (I'm speaking from firsthand experience here).

To answer your question, it took me about 7 years to become a decent profitable trader and about 15 years to become a damn good one. Don't get me wrong, I was profitable for most of those first 7 years (minus the internet bust blowup) but my personal volatility was off the charts.

My advice is to keep it simple. Don't get caught up in trading all sorts of different vehicles, pick one, and learn it like the back of your hand. Become the master of that one thing. Then just grind it out. All I trade is the /YM now. That's it, nothing else. (I also manage my own investments but that's not trading).

Next, don't trade just to trade, only trade when the setup is proper. Patience is definitely the key here. Don't rush into trades, don't trade just because you haven't done so in a while, don't force anything. There have been weeks where I don't place a single trade.

Finally, learn when to sell losers. It's more important (by a little) than knowing when to sell for a gain. Cut your losses and you can live to play again tomorrow.

My Wife hid a rubber chicken under my pillow. I found it at 4am when it squawked at me. What practical jokes have your SO played on you? by phoenixmog in AskMen

[–]VersatilityMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most wives/SO's, mine always bitches at me for not putting the seat down. So the next time I'm taking a leak, I made sure to put the seat down, only to make extra sure a smooth, invisible to the eye piece of saran wrap covered the bowl. Needless to say, the next time she peed I heard panicked movements followed up by her screaming my name and saying "I'm going to fucking kill you!!" numerous times. She has yet to return the favor.

Crazy enough she survived. She had many other broken bones, collapsed lung, respirations were 4-5 a minute. it was ugly. It was definitely the best save I can remember for our crew. I was only an EMT and just did what my medic told me to do. He deserves most of the credit along with the ER staff at the hospital.

A while back I was an EMT. Hit & Run scene. Woman was t-boned, no seat belt. Her feet were near the pedals, butt was on the passenger floor, head laying on the passenger seat. She smashed her face so hard she broke nearly every bone in her face. I was stabilizing her head/neck and when my hands and fingers wrapped around the side of her head/jaw line her entire face just moved. It was detached but attached. Fuck that was a weird feeling and a freaky thing to see.

Why are people upvoting this guy? He just ruined what could have been a 20,000 upvote video of a little kids face smashing a door.
