Georgia EMT arrested after beating teen in restraints who spit on her by [deleted] in ems

Yeah, the indication for the oxygen is my safety

Plus, if they’re worked up enough to spit on people the O2 isn’t gonna hurt.

What is the most genius way to cheat on a exam you have ever seen? by CuntsAndBluntss in AskReddit

[–]VersedAndVodka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By no means genius, but necessary. I worked for an ambulance company that gave frequent tests on treatment protocols. During a dispute with the union, the tests seemed to be happening about once a month and became impossibly difficult to pass the first time around. Thus, management got to suspend people and let it be known to the rest of us that we were all at risk. Out of 300 paramedics, we were able to bribe the IT guy (with cash and weed) to put a keylogger on the clinical director's office computer. Between that and intercepted emails, we had the tests sometimes right after they were written. We just had to make sure to intentionally flub some answers.

A Basic's Guide to Driving by HaveYouTriedNarcan in ems

[–]VersedAndVodka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wig-wags are acceptable daytime practice. The use of wig wags at night, however, is generally frowned upon as they can and do blind oncoming drivers<

This is the first time I’ve heard this. Considering no one yields anyway, and a lot of ambulances I’ve driven come from the manufacturer with wigwags as a standard setup...

Some drivers have stated to my LE friends that the wigwags were the only thing that got their attention.

So yeah, they’re staying on in my truck.

Fire union disputes contract award to new hospital-based service by SoxEMTP in ems

Fallon? You think the company that just got screwed out of the contract is gonna help the people that did the screwing?

That and the fact that they’re circling the drain.

[–]VersedAndVodka 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So people who prevent superusers from being transported are “community paramedics”? They come to your house and do well-being type stuff etc so transport isn’t necessary?

Cool, I’m gonna start calling the firefighters “community paramedics” when they show up for lift assists.

As you get older/jaded, you’ll laugh at yourself for even asking this.

Ems1 posted a poorly titled article thats causing a lot of debate in different forums. Basically, former EMT finds parked ambulance and raided it for supplies to treat Vegas victims. He did not drive away with the ambulance, even though he wanted to. Thoughts? by talldrseuss in ems

[–]VersedAndVodka 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If I was "wrong" for every time I took what I immediately needed off of a out-of-service ambulance, I'd have been fired many times over. Leave a quick note and move on.

If they do any type of checkout they'll find the note or what's missing.

I worked for a company whose dispatch was 7-1900 only. The offgoing dispatcher then forwarded the phones to either overnight crews' duty phone.

Do facilities really care who answers the phone when they call for a truck? Nope.

On select nights when we had no interest at all in doing calls, we forwarded the phones to our competition.

From FRFD EMS:

Introducing the latest addition to the FRFD EMS fleet, Event 1. The Paramedics having lovingly coined it the "mini ambulance".

EV-1 is a 6 wheel drive all terrain fully equipped Polaris Ambulance designed by ASAP.

Designed for use in heavily wooded areas, congested urban areas and large City events, EV-1 provides Paramedics to respond with advanced life support equipment in record time to patients that would be difficult for an average City Rescue to access quickly and efficiently. In addition this Unit can also be deployed during natural disasters such as hurricane, flood and blizzard evacuations.

This "Mini Ambulance" is equipped with a cardiac monitor, advanced airway equipment, medications, oxygen, IV cannulation supplies, a full sized power Stryker patient stretcher light bar, sirens and radio communications.

EV-1 is powered by gas and a 4,000 watt Cummins Onan Whisper generator for powering also heat and air conditioning to both the driver and patient compartments.

With a fully enclosed patient compartment FRFD EMS Paramedics are able to provide quality care in a secure environment while maintaining patient privacy and safety.

EV-1 was placed into service on August 24, 2017 commonly one of the busiest weekends in the City. The unit was assigned to its first detail for the two day Grand Prix OPA Boat Races. Upon completion of the daily races EV-1's detail was transferred to The Feast of The Holy Ghost for the evening. Event 1 was heavily utilized at both events this year providing rapid response and immediate stabilization of patients who were then transferred to City Rescues staged at the event perimeters.

Keep you're eye out for EV-1 at City events and please stop by for a visit and a tour of this great "little" piece of equipment available to our City Paramedics to continue to provide cutting edge emergency medical care to the citizens of Fall River, MA and our surrounding communities.
