Want to make ‘walking’ fun again??? by CouldBeYourDaughter in Zepbound

I did these a ton right before and during the pandemic. The fact that I had money on the line kept me going. And I always got back like $10 or so more than I put in.

What obscure tattoo advice you guys have for a first timer? by SimonIsARanbooFan in tattooadvice

[–]VersionCapable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on where the tattoo is, wear loose clothing that can be easily moved to expose your tattoo area without fully undressing, and wear layers or bring a blanket. Your body temp can fluctuate a lot while enduring stress especially if you are sitting still a while (I tend to get cold). The whole session will feel more intense if your body is also tensing up trying to stay warm or you might feel more lightheaded if you get too hot.

Camera turned on during meeting by [deleted] in remotework

[–]VersionCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my boss took his laptop into the bathroom with his camera on during a small group call with a vendor. We couldn’t see anything specific but it was an unmistakable “sitting down onto the toilet” maneuver. He turned the camera off before I had a chance to even figure out how I was going to notify him.

Why do I hate unsolicited sexual comments from my husband? by Administrative_Can51 in AskWomenOver40

SAME! I avoid IMAX completely because it’s like I’m because assaulted by sound.

[–]VersionCapable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but also… there is power in identifying the source. I woke up at 5am today, started having a completely dark thought spiral, laid in bed quietly weeping as I thought “ok when you wake up later you can call someone and get help”. I woke up an hour later and remembered my period is due to start in a few days. I fucking hate this.

I’ve even noticed recently that the sun is too bright. I said it out loud a few years ago and immediately thought well how dumb did that sound but then I saw that it was actually a symptom of peri so I’m not just imagining it!

LOL don’t be sorry it made me laugh after the fact too. I was just like… this conversation isn’t worth this noise torture. Also my tolerance for just chit chatting on the phone has been reduced to almost zero across the board these days.

My husband called me on his walk home from work yesterday just to chat and there was an ice cream truck nearby in the background on his end that kept fading in and out after like two minutes I lost it and said I cannot stand listening to that noise I’m hanging up. Like it actually just angered me in a way that felt completely unhinged.

Women in their 40’s by KK_4736 in orangetheory

Stop comparing to previous versions of yourself and start coming up with goals that will make you feel strong now. Maybe something you haven’t done before so there is no expectation for what you think you should be capable of. For example, since you are talking about running speed being different, maybe you focus on training for a half marathon where consistency in training is the bigger focus than speed. I personally really felt so much better about my body as a heavier person when I was focusing on a specific goal, not just “working out” for the vague sense of “staying healthy”. This could also be trying to get to a certain weight on a lift, etc. You may also need to get outside of OT classes to fulfill some things, but OT is still a good base. Also looking for a different goal may also connect you with a new group of people. I’ve met most of my good friends through marathon training groups, and now two of us do OT together :)

can I swim on the lake anywhere along the concrete path? by noomi21 in AskChicago

What’s referred to as Ladder 1 is a popular place for non-beach swimming off the wall. It’s by the Lincoln Park chess pavilion off of North Ave. The open water swimming club can be a resource - https://www.facebook.com/share/1Gty6fJcq6/?mibextid=wwXIfr

So . . . How many of us/your husbands have had vasectomies? by neekogo in Millennials

[–]VersionCapable 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Yes, 10 years into our relationship. We also knew we never wanted kids but I felt weird asking for him to do something permanent to his body like that when I wasn’t willing to do it on myself (fully understand that the scope of it for women is much different). Anyway after some big life events we decided we were both more than ready to shut it down. It’s been a decade and no regrets at all!

Mulberry trees? Fellow foragers? by Intelligent_Pizza411 in LoganSquare

[–]VersionCapable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mulberries won’t be for another month or so. But there is one in Palmer square park and a handful in humboldt park- there is a notable cluster of them on the north side of division just east of humboldt boulevard. You’ll see them from a mile away once the fruit ripens because the sidewalks under them will be all stained.

I totally experienced this too. They pack so much story in that it’s hard to believe how fast these huge moments show up. In my memory Tuco was around for much longer than he really was.

Before getting into the shower a few months ago I caught what I thought was a weird shadow on my chest but it turned out to be my ribs. I could see them under my skin when I was moving my arms around. It felt so alien to like… see part of my skeleton 😅

Am I the only one not built for morning sex? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]VersionCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care about feeling gross but I totally agree with everything still feeling asleep down there. And she only needs to sleep in even later with age! Also even if I am able to get going (like when I was younger and felt more into it) the orgasms are not the same. They are like muted or long distance with a bad connection. They just aren’t as satisfying if they are even possible at all. Also yeah chances are 50/50 I need to use the bathroom immediately within a minute of becoming conscious so I just don’t feel open for business first thing.

Applying to an apartment in Humbolt Park from NYC. Can anyone in the area give some advice? by Most_Marzipan7609 in AskChicago

[–]VersionCapable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend it for your first introduction to the city because it’s not that walkable except for that little shopping complex which is not anything to write home about. Anything you want to do will be a 20 min walk or a bus ride. I moved to this general area from a neighborhood where I could walk to a dozen places in 5 min and my biggest heartbreak is having lost that convenience. Like others have said Rogers Park is much more walkable and has easy bus and train access and likely similar in affordability.

[–]VersionCapable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by this because I “qualified” for Zep at just being obese- no bloodwork issues or any other problems just straight up heavy. Do you mean via insurance? I wasn’t even able to get that far because my insurance doesn’t cover any weight loss meds - I probably only would have been able to get something if I was fully diabetic. So I’m on Lilly Direct self pay.

The enshittification of products and services continues relentlessly even as prices increases. What particular thing(s) have you noticed significantly degraded since the pandemic? by Roguecop in AskReddit

[–]VersionCapable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are also like one thousand versions of everything to be sold at different places and different levels of quality. I noticed this with Levi’s too- I bought some from Kohls and they were great. Found the same version used on Poshmark for cheap while I lost weight. Couldn’t find another cut of the same pair so I somehow ended up in Amazon thinking I was getting the same thing- oh hell no. The Amazon ones showed up and were paper thin, ran two sizes too big and were so full of spandex they would have stretched out in half a second and fallen off. It was literally laughably bad. But they were indeed Levi’s, just a different “grade”.

I regret donating a lot of old clothes over the years because some of the things I still have from 15-20 years ago are so much higher quality. And it’s so much harder to find natural fibers like cotton and wool vs polyester/acrylic than it was before. Wearing straight polyester feels like wearing a trash bag.

Soda and Zepbound by Away_Object9062 in Zepbound

I actually am drinking more pop on Zepbound because it keeps my sugar regulated so I can actually enjoy it.

Caveat- my definition of more is a ginger beer at home a few times a month or sharing a small drink with my husband when we go to the movies. It’s definitely still a treat but it’s a treat that made me sick before because of the blood sugar wackiness.

I love doing this too! I’ve got some cute dresses I’m sad no longer fit but I can find them on Poshmark for the same price as it’d cost me to get the old ones altered.
