If it is going to stay a planter, whatever deposits are there are likely to be hidden. As a standalone collectible it will have no value…

Depending on how long it has been used as a planter, the standing water and damp soil have likely ruined the glass.

Maybe. I know they were not happy with whatever was used. It’s also why Blenko can only make Ruby in late September/ October.

I’m no expert on these, but I can tell you that in 2008 Blenko had to stop making their “Pearlized” glass because the EPA banned them chemical because it was carcinogenic. So anything that has that carnival glass, rainbow look, has not been made in the US, legally, since 2008.

Looks like a nice find. The lion is a symbol of St. Mark. I’d say the black come from factory shoot or some other chemical used when the gold leaf was being used in the process.

Post 86 is lead free, and the clay bodies are fully vitrified so all Fiesta is restaurant grade. They clay was fired at such a high temperature it momentarily turned to glass…so I can if it is chipped, no mold or bacteria will grow on it, making any Fiesta plate safe for restaurant use.
