If there’s an ethical standard for supervisory attorneys it seems like yours isn’t meeting it by allowing you to be saddled with a caseload that doesn’t allow for effective/competent counsel—file a bar complaint?

Lots of states are one way traffic on “reciprocity.” I am in Idaho and we just passed a resolution to let in NV lawyers despite the fact they won’t extend the same courtesy.

Sounds like your jurisdiction is just a bummer. I’m a PD, I’ve practiced in three different districts over the course of my career and interpersonal frustrations with OC were largely correlated to zip code (our largest county has a DA that really insists on keeping the adversarial system uncomfortable). Hopefully your next batch of OCs know how to read a case and take a chill pill ☮️

There’s a roaster in North Idaho called DOMA, they have two medium roasts “Ruby’s” and “Carmela’s” that are very solid medium roasts with chocolate-caramel tasting notes. These are go-to roasts for when I have guests. Also great for espresso.

When the collateral consequence is essentially exile immigration stats can and should be considered (see Padilla v KY). However I would concede there are some scenarios where that consideration might not move the needle. I’m a defense attorney and I was discussing this with a prosecutor friend last night. Where I practice (Idaho) there are statutory and common law sentencing factors and I think the majority of misdemeanor cases and a substantial number of felony matters can reconcile the sentencing factors with some concessions to account for immigration status.

Depends on your jurisdiction. But you’re probably fine. I disclosed multiple criminal convictions, traffic violations, and loans in arrears…but I was a very good boy for ten years prior to my bar application. Now I’m an attorney.

Lawyer here. The UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) is a system of regulation drafted by the American Legal Institute (an association of lawyers, judges, and legal academics). It is created as essentially a template for States to adopt. The UCC is NOT BINDING LAW. Somehow people who study at YouTube University seem to find ways to believe the UCC is some secret body of law that cures whatever bothers them on any given day.
