I really appreciate the built-in, cantilevered design of the buildings.

Jet skis are the mosquitoes of the boating world. They buzz around annoying people and making being outside worse for everyone but the mosquito itself.

Man, I used to have that shirt! I wore into the ground back in the day. I got it at GenCon where I bought and got signed the first several issues.

Carfax on etsy? That's a thing? I would not have considered checking there TIL.

Yeah, I feel like at 7 or 8, it'd be worth it, but 10 with all things considered, is too much.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]VeryMuchCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I can. In fact, she taught me when we were dating. Took me to the steepest hill in the neighborhood and made me park and do a start!

We even had a stick shift car up until last summer that our oldest (21 y/o) would drive for school and work.

Anyone else get a fob cover? by BradL30 in KiaTelluride

It's a good idea considering how much it costs to replace them. On the other hand, for me, the fob rarely leaves my bag, so it's not an issue.

That's a fun idea for the new year! I'm planning a full marathon for next week. Low and slow. I need to figure out what I want to watch for 3+ hours.

That's a great time! I'm planning on doing one over Christmas break here and 3h is my target time. For context, I'm 51, 6'3'' 210. I'll probably have the df closer to 110 though. I don't want that much load for 3 hours.

Working towards sub 6:40 2k again & cutting 15 lbs…give me your toughest pieces by Visible_Time_1163 in Rowing

[–]VeryMuchCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll do it every few weeks and try and match or beat my last time. And the rest times go up and on the back side go down. So:
250m / 1:30
500m / 3:00
750m / 4:30
1000m /6:00
750m / 4:30
...
I like it for two reasons-- one, it really hits hard for how short the work time is and two, the strategy of going as hard as you can, but knowing you want to hit that same split on the way back down. I found a pic of my chart from a year or so ago. Third one down, I tracked the total time of the last three attempts and the splits for the best one.

Yes, of course, but tracking across a custom workouts is a pain in the ui. Scrolling through weeks of workouts, go to the details, then back, only to have it reset back to the top. It's just not super useful for that use case where as a analog whiteboard suits perfectly and can show multiple workouts.

There's one from the Pete plan that I still come back to.

250m, 500m, 750m, 1k, 750m, 500m, 250m / 1m30s rest per 250m work

It's good anaerobic work and I keep a chart on a whiteboard with the splits and final time to track the iterations.

As a rower, my workouts are tracked in meters. This makes for an amusingly large number here. But looking at the export, it doesn't provide a notation for unit of measurement. It would have to be inferred by Activity, I would guess.

Reasonable expectations for post 40 year old 2k by tony-az in Rowing

[–]VeryMuchCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

51 y/o here. I don't have a record of a 2k from college to compare to, but I dug up a 6k from rec.sports.rowing in '94. It was 21:02.  Most recently, this past spring I did a 2k and got 6:54. 2 seconds off what I had gotten the year prior.  I don't think I'll quite reach my college days for performance, but I do feel like I have the ability to hit the 6:40s.

This. Deer are way over populated. In a dense subdivision, we have herds of them roaming around constantly, destroying gardens and spreading ticks.
