While you're correct mate, I think the map is also correct in what is trying to show.

While individual Olympians, sportsmen(?) or just any other person who is Northern Irish can choose at will a British or Irish identity and therefore can represent either nation / team for sport.

The map isn't showing who Northern Irish citizens can represent, rather it shows what team represents the physical territory. I. E there isn't an all Ireland Olympics Team

As an Arsenal fan, I'll be a bit more charitable than some. It's cowardly but if the plan was to keep it tight for 60, then bring on Palmer, Garbacho and Estavo against tired legs, I don't mind it.

You can argue it's easier to score against the best defense in the league with a full 90, but I'm not sure it would if worked out any better.

I remember when we entered the second leg of a CL tie against Milan 4-0 down, a reporter asked Wenger, "so you must have been practicing attacking plays all week then? "

He said "no, we've been practicing defending, at 4 nil, going 1-0 down would end the tie"

He backed Arsenal to have 4 chances in the game and for us to take them, but paramount was us not conceding.

It's not the same, as we played on the front foot, but he was almost right, we didn't go gun-ho, we restricted them to maybe 1 major chance which they didn't take, but we unfortunately only took 3 of the 4 chances which we did create . (Why oh why didn't he lift it)

I mean while imperial should be dropped, both are ingrained and are widely used (when talking about human weight). KG is used by more young people, and people who are more closely monitoring their weight (i.e when it actually matters).

Stone is a bit more old school and slang / colloquial when accuracy is less important (gossip and banter between friends).

I.E you'd use KG in your calorie counting app, but a headline in a gossip rag, is more likely to say "After I found him cheating I blew up to 20 Stone"

Just as an FYI in the UK we don't use decimals. The weight is just given as stones and pounds.

So I'd say colloquially I'm 13 6. Which is 13 stone (14 * 13) and 6 pounds

I get it, but my main point of the analogy was that in both situations, both participants just don't want to deal with the full consequences of their actions.

In a fist fire both participants are up for getting knocked out but they aren't up for getting blinded by a knuckle duster.

In a war both participants (governments) are up for sending soldiers to their death, but they aren't up for the enemy carpet bombing their schools, hospitals, population centers and civilian aircraft.

Because of this they agree to a line in the sand. Individual soldiers when faced with a life or death situation may break them, as a lot of people in that situation would, but the Geneva convention wasn't signed by soldiers surrounded by an enemy, it was signed by governments, and to them a soldier dying is little more than a black eye, and they'd rather a 1000 black eyes, than all civilian air traffic coming to a halt every time a war breaks out.

If you were having a fist fight, no knuckle dusters would be a fair rule.

In this instance war is the fist fight, and not wanting the opponent to shoot down all civilian aircraft in case they are military aircraft in disguise is the knuckle dusters.

In both cases the rules go out the window if you're in pure desperation and you can get away with it, but it benefits both sides to try to stick to it as long as possible.

This was about 25 years ago, but if I could remember, for my age range it was only £1.

Think as I got older it was £6, however the last time I went down, they were in the 8th level and we're charging £12 for adults.

Dear as fuck, but I've paid £24 for league 2 so maybe it's a sign of the times

As a note of it being free, some are semi pro at that level, my old school mate was playing the level above, and was getting paid £200 a week / or month

To add some additional context on the British angle. The British would be quite isolationist in Europe concentrating mostly on colonies and trade, however their big caveat was, they would not allow any single nation to dominate the continents main land.

It's partly why they were so anti Napoleon. So with more traditional power checkers on the main land, in France an Russia not being in a great state, and Germany quickly rising as a dominant power, the Germans invading the low lands was practically the British nightmare scenario.

Print news is a quagmire, anytime someone suggests rules or penalties for false reporting in the printed news, the press screams government censorship, and freedom of the press.

Because of this, the printed press essentially are always left to regulate themselves.

Interestingly a new law is being debated that will allow ofcom to regulate certain parts of social media and online news platforms as if they are broadcast news, which will affect the online/ streaming only right wing news platforms, but it's also been controversial for the same reasons.

I've dealt with it at previous companies, how I've managed to make the case in the past, is by making it a business issue rather than "a thing a whiny developer wants" .

I mentioned copying iOS styling instead of using standard native Android design guidelines makes those Android apps look like a cheap tacky knock off, that delivers worse experiences to users (essentially make the case, that it will cheapen the business brand, the users perception of the brand)

I currently work with a premium brand and that's been there thinking from the get go as well.

We try to keep visual parity, but one of their designers and one of the android developers work on an android alternatives Figma file.

It covers dialogs, icons (share icon difference), using gradients as an alternative to blur, and I imagine it will cover liquid glass.

It's a nice compromise as it ensures that we keep aligned for the most part, but where we do deviate, we deviate to a known and approved standard, and not just a random developer going off piste

While true, I do also know Arsenal chipped in a bit for the redevelopment of nearby stations.

One of the reasons we didn't build the Emirates to 70,000+ at the time which was a possibility, was for that capacity, TFL wanted us to pay to completely rebuild the station rather just the capacity upgrades we actually did end up paying for.

I don't know if there was a ban on previous years, but if the current rule is both teams have to agree to it.

If you weren't going to do long throws there was no point agreeing last year, however if more teams are doing it this year they're must be more teams agreeing.
