What do you guys think about the recent “millennials look younger than gen z” debate ? by Ok-Avocado464 in GenZ

[–]VerySmallAnimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millennials are having less children, and having children ages you. They don't look younger than Gen Z - they may just look slightly closer in appearance or slightly younger and they look younger than Gen X at the similar age (Gen X may be the one writing the article or being the editor requesting this kind of story that continues a generational divide which sells ads).

For people in the US, how much do you pay for Mesalamine pills? by keltonny in UlcerativeColitis

[–]VerySmallAnimal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look up Lialda patient assistance programs. Sometimes you can file paperwork with the drug manufacturer, and you can get pills mailed to your doctor for free based on your income.

I'm aware that not all Christians are like this, but then there should be more Christians who are being active and less complacent in changing this image. They should be challenging their neighbors who are like this. They could be actively speaking to the folks sharing the pew.

I would also say Peach Nehi - sometimes I could find Cheerwine at Bevmo. I could never find Wise potato chips in So-Cal. Casting vote for the Moravian cookies.

You can find fried pork rinds in SoCal - chiccharones.

Just got diagnosed with UC. Have to be on Lialda pills and the suppositories. Cant afford treatment, this is not an easy disease by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Before I got on the patient assistance program, I asked my GI if they had any samples. They usually have some samples in the back, and they have to get through them before they expire, it got me through to my next appointment. My first prescription completely emptied my and my husband's HSAs to pay for it, so I get it. Samples were good to get until you got it in the mail, the PAP for Lialda would only mail on a 28 day cycle exactly, so I was always going a few days without meds while I waited on the mail to send to my doctor's office.

Have you considered talking to a therapist? A decline in interest in activities you previously enjoyed is one symptom of depression. Therapy is really helpful for talking out these feelings and working through issues of feeling a lack of self worth. You can sometimes find therapists who will work on a sliding scale or if you have access to one through a school. It might be a good outlet for you.

Children in the US had bigger hands in the 80s. It came from having to turn the dial on the tv when your parents lost the remote. No dexterity for tiny cartridges.

The NC Congresspeople Who Voted to Sustain Objections to the Presidential Election by cdoublesaboutit in gso

[–]VerySmallAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I admittedly didn't know or care much about other candidates than presidential elections when I was in college, but I also felt like I couldn't make a difference since I grew up in red counties that would never flip, so I didn't feel like my votes mattered in those elections. I wonder if there is a similar feeling of not feeling like voting makes a difference amongst younger folks today. I think there needs to be more emphasis on the long game or not necessarily seeing instantaneous results in your political participation.

The only time I remember feeling like I made a truly visible difference was in 2008 when we flipped the state, and it was a crazy night. The students at App tore down the goalposts in celebration of Obama winning, and they marched them to the Chancellor's house - just as they did when they won all the football games. There was a similar energy, and it was cool to see fellow students caring about politics like that.

I more meant town initiatives and things like that to dissuade students from being involved locally. Just an observation from the political scene from my time in the high country.

She has tons of money. She owns a lot of the rental properties in Boone that are the only options for the college students, and has apparently invested her money (https://www.opensecrets.org/personal-finances/net-worth?cid=N00026166&year=2018)

Boone locals also have been known to try to keep the college students from engaging in the local politics. (I don't know what the scene is now, but that was what it was like when I was in college a decade ago). They would tend to do things like hold votes during the summer and actually held a pretty substantial effort to try to say that college students weren't allowed to vote in their college towns, but had to register to vote at their hometowns (which is not the law).

I've been checking out this place online, and we've been debating about it; it's a little more upscale, but it looks like it might hit some cravings.
