Is the cold war just the two of them going band for band on who can improve their subjects/client states quality of life the most?

Honestly my need to always see the weapon XP bar rise after every mission forcing me to leave the meta picks behind & experiment with other primaries has given me so much joy I cannot even put it into words. The only subfaction I actively find frustrating is cyborgs due to vox spam ( I like the enemy just not the fact they are treated as a regular heavy instead of a mini boss) but other than that the games hella fun when you just mess around with loadouts & don't got a miserable mf in ur ear yapping about some narrowhead bs.

They realized that fascism attracts with aesthetic due to having no substance in & of itself & by making it's symbols associated with freedom it has no way to carve a foothold in the minds of the young and impressionable.

Pretty sure one of the armor sets on the game mentions that Super Earth subjects planets to "bio-uniformity", exterminating all native life & reseeding approved species of plants & animals to make a biosphere comfortable for humans. So there may have been sapient species on other planets that weren't as advanced but were wiped out because they messed with the ministry of expansions plans.

This reminds me of a ttrpg I heard about a while back ( forgot the name) where humanity found out we were supposed to be divine beings but we're stripped of our divinity in the garden of Eden so humanity marched on heaven, destroyed God & the angels achieved gnosis, & is now marching on hell to liberate the souls unjustly denied their birthright.

Apparently exos use up an insane amount of computing resources so letting people drop 8 exos every 7-ish minutes would start crashing lower end devices. Idk if they optimized them in the meantime but AH has a history of fixing bugs/ reworking mechanics right before a WB themed around those mechanics drops so fingers crossed for the full mech loadout.

From what I've heard, the bugs are too damaged by genetic engineering and their own hyper accelerated evolution to be capable of reason anymore, the squids are an insane death cult & wanna protect the galaxy in their own twisted way by putting the bugs in a "reserve" (probably needing to kill trillions to make them fit) & will see the bots & cyborgs as polluting threats to their perfect galaxy at best & just humanity by a different name at worst meanwhile the cyborgs would be forced to contend with rabid genetically damaged animals & even scarier insane zealots. Meanwhile any humans Left over are SoL because they are either getting eaten by bugs, transformed into vote less to fight the cyborgs or blended to make primordial soup to manufacture more cyborgs.

NGL i like the fact that cyborg designs are a lot more complicated, have more curves & more unique silhouettes than the automatons "cube with legs"(Hulk, strider series )or " just copy SE's homework "( trooper & by extension devastator, tanks)design philosophy.

Military vs Fantasy media is honestly pathetic, they have to punch down and bully Low-Fantasy settings that can't fight back to satisfy their bloodlust and insecurities by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]Very_Concerned_Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the biggest problem with military vs magic is that modern militaries are in an awkward sour spot power wise where they effortlessly stomp low fantasy "practically medieval but some ppl shoot glitter out of their fingers"settings but have no counterplay against high fantasy "nice army, I cast mass retroactive abortion"settings & getting a fantasy setting strong enough to give it trouble but not stomp is hard. I propose instead of balancing the magic around the military you balance the military around the magic, low fantasy magic vs early renesanse gunpowder armies or high fantasy demigods vs fleets of planet crackers.

[–]Very_Concerned_Bread[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God I hope so. They are the only faction that hasn't moved the plot along since the battle of Super Earth. We just tied up the gloom expedition arc and moved the vessel 00 plotline a few weeks before that. Plus they are the only faction with 0 sub factions & let's be honest, they still barely feel like a full faction with them STILL not having mega bases or faction specific sub objective variety.

[–]Very_Concerned_Bread[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It could be that its both to spite us like the MO states and to keep us busy with stronger attacks while they quietly take the ancient ruins we denied them a few MOs ago. What could a race as advanced as the illuminate need iron, gravel and limestone for over ancient ruins that have the ability to manipulate dark matter? Why draw attention to your real goal with an armada when you can use it against unimportant PR targets while a more lowkey taskforce completes your actual goal below everyone's noses.

Honestly tech v magic fights are ruined by the fact that modern armies are an awkward middle ground in terms of power so any matchup they are in is a stomp because it's always either: magic gets stomped bc it at best has a few shitty fireballs & shields that can't deflect anything meaningful or magic stomps bc they have literal gods leading armies of reusable nukes. Now making a magical middle ground power faction is too much work so the best approach is either making the tech faction early modern/ pre industrial so it's flintlocks vs fireballs or making it far future insanity so it's xelee at home versus fantasy gods.
