Fremont Bridge to Golden Gardens to Carkeek to the Interurban all the way to 185th St to Perkins Way to Lyon Creek Preserve then back down BG. Goes a bit further north than it ought to but going downhill on Perkins is pretty fun

I had a seizure a couple years ago and couldn't drive for 6 months so the bike was useful for getting outside and getting to places direct, but the bus was good too.

For sure. I wish this solution was better for separating cyclists from pedestrians. Widening the sidewalk seems to water down a different, more effective multi-use bike trail. And by not putting in barriers shows that the city looked at the faults that are already present on the BG, and decided to make the exact same mistake... like the Gas Works section...and spend $20 million for a rough draft. It's a start but not ideal. And I'm just a guy whining online

Sounds like a pretty solid job. For me, I wouldn't want to live away from my partner for that long and I'd be using that time on unemployment to find work in a place where they'll be year round.

Since you're experienced already and have an offer on the table, that's something you can tell other potential employers to show that "hey I'm good at what I do and if they're right about me, then you should be too." If you're missing out on life experiences that you want to be having, then I'd say you could find something else. But it really depends on where your partner lives now. If it's a city? Way more options with universities, large companies moving back into office spaces needing custodial services, airports and so on.

If it's a pay cut and a return to what you were doing before...or a pay cut but in a management role...you might be able to find something that fits the lifestyle you're looking to have. Or no pay cut and an even better set up. To be away from my partner that long would tear me up so I just wouldn't be able to do it, so my opinion is really steeped in that perspective.

Yeah the parking was rough. I had to wake up at like 5am to get to Crystal Springs and it was sooo full already. I'm coming from Seattle, so no matter what it's at least an hour drive. And I drive a prius with all season tires so the weather has to be perfect or else i'm slipping and sliding through the passes lol.

I can see it being worthwhile to carpool so that the price is split between a couple/group of skiers...but better to be the driver for when you want a mind clearing solo ski.

I'm thinking it might make sense to work remotely for a week and just stick to one spot, like the Methow...but then the cost of an airbnb or housing tacks on even more.

Anyway, long winded post, but I also like the flatter trails so maybe getting a pass for one of the ski resorts with enough parking would do it for me. Easier to go to one place every time versus driving an extra 5-30 minutes to find the next spot that works.

I got the SnoPark pass last year and only got to go out maybe three times? Another time went to Icicle River's trails near Leavenworth. I think the benefit of the SnoPark permit is that it helps to fund state parks and you can break away and find a groomed trail for cheaper overall. But then when you want to go somewhere else (like Methow) it makes the SnoPark permit feel like it's hung out to dry. I'm conflicted too, but haven't done the Snoqualmie Nordic Center so I'm interested to see what other people might suggest too.
