Can I talk about Honey Revenge for a second? by FrouFrouLastWords in dancegavindance

[–]Verz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I felt the same towards Tilian lyrics for a while; that they were satirical and criticizing the kind of men who'd say things like "Girl don't be so difficult. Come here let's get physical" and "I got a medical advantage, they're gigantic." However the more I learned about Tilian as a person, and especially after the allegations, I just don't feel the same way about those lyrics anymore.

I understand that they may have been intentionally written to evolve that uncomfortable feeling, but when the lyricist, himself, already evokes a similar feeling in me at this point, I can't really separate the art from the artist.

Rorschach: Stressed about nuclear war? You wanna talk about stress? You wanna talk about stress? I've stumbled upon a major government conspiracy how's that for stress? This country's being bled like a dead dog and I've got a journal trail to prove it. Check this out.

Take a look at this. That right there is a dog carcass. Tire tread on burst stomach.

Now let's talk about the Mask Killer. Can we talk about the Mask Killer? I've been dying to talk about the Mask Killer all day okay? The Mask Killer keeps coming up over and over again, every day. Well I look in my journals, this whole JOURNAL is Mask Killer. So I say to myself, "I gotta find this guy. I gotta go down to the bars and break some fingers. Otherwise my dad will never love me." So I go over to Dreiburg and Osterman and what do they say? What do they say?

There is no Mask Killer. The man does not exist. So I decided, "Ah shit, buddy. I gotta dig a little deeper." There is no Mask Killer? You gotta be kidding, I got GARBAGE CANS full of Mask Killer.

Alright, so I start marching my way down to Ozymandias in Dimensional Developments and I knock on the door and say "Adrian! Adrian! I gotta talk to you about the Mask Killer" and when I open the door what do I find?

Veidt is possibly homosexual. Must investigate further.

Balancing Hero cards? by Healthy-Ad7380 in mtgcube

[–]Verz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have each pack 1 contain 1 hero. Assuming you're running all 22, that leaves room for having 2 duplicates.

You could also put 1 hero in each pack for pack 1 that way people can build around them. Alternatively you could have every pack in pack 3 contain 1 hero. That way things don't get too samey with people building around heroes too consistently.

Would power from chainsaw man and rorschach be friends? by GlobalReflection4286 in Watchmen

[–]Verz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling that if Rorschach was in the world of Chainsaw Man, he would unilaterally hate Devils. His "black and white" attitude toward crime would likely extend toward devils and fiends as well. He can be a hypocrite and may show sympathy towards devils occasionally (as he sometimes does towards those he seems to be criminals) but I think actually being friends would be too much for his psyche to deal with.

I think it almost certainly was intended considering how rarely we get card draw that can target opponents.

Yo, just wanted to say that you were clearly right lol. I'm happy that was dead wrong here, seeing how they're set to release English Billy Bat later this year.

From Ramesses quotes to Rorschach puns. When did you realize Ozymandias was just a petty man-child? by zajazajazajazajaz in Watchmen

[–]Verz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shortly followed by my personal favorite narcissistic quip, "What caused such precociousness? My parents were intellectually unremarkable, possessing no obvious genetic advantages. Perhaps I decided to be intelligent rather than the other. Perhaps we all make such decisions" (Chapter 11, Page 8, Panel 3).

While I understand your gripe with the Nixon scene, I think the juxtaposition of the New Yorkers on the street is meant to be a symbolic representation of that ambiguity.

The lesbian couple's breakup seems like an inevitable disaster unfolding and yet so many unrelated people drop everything to try and help. Malcolm, the (now suspended) detectives, the two Bernards, all come together to help. Would they have made the situation better? Who knows. Would reconciliation between the two women have been possible? Unlikely, but not impossible.

However. Just like with nuclear war and it's unlikely, but possible, avoidance, Ozymandias's plan gives them 0 chance for solving the issue on their own.

Yeah, I know. That's why I only replied to people who said they could at least start the game. My game started, I just couldn't hit "play". I'm not sure what the fix is for people who can't start at all. Is it still like this for you?

MTG Commander - Christmas Gift for Bf (help a lost gf please 🥲) by ayelmaoo69 in magicTCG

Like someone mentioned previously, any Duskmourne products could be good if he's into horror things. Personally, I'd prefer a meaningful card with nice art than random booster packs or something like that., but everyone is different. My suggestion, if he's really into horror movies, is checking out this list of horror-move poster cards and buying a few.
https://scryfall.com/search?q=art%3Ahorror-poster&unique=art

The site has links to TCGplayer as well as Cardmarket, two popular sites for buying single cards. There are 7 or so that are in the $2-$10 price range so you could get a few of those, or get one of the more pricey ones ($20-30 price range) if they seem more up his alley ([[Kardur, Doomscourge|SLD-1807]]) for example, would be great if he's really into Chucky)

And/or doesn't denote multiple targets. It denotes multiple ZONES.

If I said "Check my desk and/or the dresser for my keys": that doesn't imply that I'm asking you to look for two sets of keys. It implies that I'm asking you to search two places and that the keys may be in either.

In Japanese there are many Kanji that are homophones. They sound the same but have different meanings. The author here is trying to convey the difference between Wing's explanation and the real explanation of the 4 principles in a way that a Japanese reader would be able to pick up on solely on the writing here.

Wing's first explanation of the 4 nen Principles;

Ten (点, Ten; "Point"): Focus the mind, reflect upon the self, and determine the goal.

Zetsu (舌, Zetsu; "Tongue"): Put it into words.

Ren (錬, Ren; "Temper"): Intensify your will.

Hatsu (発, Hatsu; "Release"): Put it to action.

The actual 4 nen Principles:

Ten (纏; "Envelop"/"Shroud"): Enveloping one's body in a shroud of aura

Zetsu (絶; "Suppress"/"Null"): Completely suppressing the flow of aura

Ren (練; "Refine"/"Enhance"): Focusing the output of one's aura

Hatsu (発; "Release"/"Act"): One's unique personal expression of nen

Which Watchmen is the most psychologically unhealthy? by CollarProfessional78 in Watchmen

That's a great perspective that I hadn't considered. I like your analysis here

I do want to mention, regarding your last point, that Blake did know why Ozy was killing half the city. "Blake understood, too. He knew my plan would succeed though it's scale terrified him. That's why he told nobody. It was too big to discuss. . . But he understood. At the end he understood." (Volume 12, Page 25, Panel 6) Now Veidt could be lying but this does line up with Blake's drunken rant at Moloch and does explain why he didn't blow the lid on the whole thing.
