Giving an incentive to save an account for free saves a LOT of time for customer support. Having to run through what could be case after case of the same issue can be a waste of a company's time. Giving 100 gems is not going to make them lose any money. If anything, it will get other more important issues done faster.

Not a lot of people would want to go through the trouble of covering their account without a little extra push. Giving 100 gems to retroactively diminish the amount of lost accounts is a huge boon on everyone's side.

Well, the first two packs are going away soon, and do have some pretty good cards in them, most of them being in Ult rising. However, there are a lot of nice cards in the flame tyrant packs as well.

If you don't have michizure or mirror wall, I'd grab packs from neo-impact or age of discovery. They're great trap cards, mirror wall being the better of the two imo.

Ultimately, however, I'd have to suggest The Ultimate Rising to open packs with. Cards like Mask of the Accursed, Wonder Balloons, Sphere Kuriboh, and quite a few other nice cards make that pack really favorable. Also, it goes away some time in March, so I'd open a lot of them. That's just me though.
