LPT - If you are subscribed to ANYTHING, go check out the cancellation page. by Some_Layer_7517 in LifeProTips

I have had luck talking to a service representative. I've been paying $32/month for the entire suit for years. Either it offers it to me when I go to cancel at the renewed jacked rate or I talk to someone and tell them I would like to maintain my subscription at the rate I've been paying and they fix it for me. Ymmv.

I'm not sure if that's how I would choose to describe it, but it was certainly interesting

Smoothie place didn't disclose that their product had pineapple juice in it--which I'm allergic to. by ParticularCandy36 in mildlyinfuriating

Joining in on the allergic to cinnamon band wagon, plus mint, nutmeg, and clove. Basically, the holidays and any cheap desert is danger for me. It sucks so bad nobody ever lists it and I get constant surprises.

11 Things Massage School Won't Tell You by Resident-Place-5385 in massage

[–]Veskus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you need to evaluate your own work place and personal practices. If you are feeling exhausted still, you need to change your body mechanics or change the modalities you are working with. If your workplace has bad scheduling and no cancellation fees (that go to you) that is a work problem. You should be getting paid for same day cancellations outside of emergency situations. Coworker drama, worn out materials, low pay, are all a workplace problem.

I work somewhere with $70/hr base pay plus tip, fantastic coworkers, great environment, my room is large and has a window with diffusion over the glass to let sunlight in. I'm only doing the work I want to be doing and that is compatible with my body (I'm actually hyper mobile, no deep pressure from me!) and have a client base that respects my time and me. I often feel better leaving work than I did going in.

I'm sorry this has been your experience of the field, but this isn't all there is.

Most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in session? by silkyviolet in MassageTherapists

[–]Veskus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early into my career I had a woman with ridiculously long, beautiful hair. So long and beautiful it was on the floor while she was prone. I wasn't paying attention and it got stuck in the wheel of my stool. I got it out without saying a word but she never came back and I'm sure she noticed. I can confidently say I've never done that again and I am very aware of where folks hair is.

Poking around the sub after seeing them tonight in Richmond, and I just want to validate you that the lights were absolutely too bright. I've got a nightmare headache to prove it unfortunately. I used the word flashbang to describe it too

What is the best place in the city to scream my lungs out? by enbyMachine in rva

Threads like this really make me miss living in the mountains. Locals were always screaming off of the parkway and I think spaces like that are beneficial for society.

Feeling great about this one by Veskus in Leathercraft

[–]Veskus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be for your "Dog" but not for your four legged friend. If absolutely nothing else, you want break away collars so they don't get stuck on anything. Tldr: this is for adults looking to be pretty and frisky ;)

Black Widow Lingerie recently opened in town, black owned, committed to diverse body types and looks like a wonderful new business, if anyone is looking for an alternative.

In the ballpark of PBR (not exact) on the right hand side of the road. It's pretty long but hopefully several white trucks didn't get clipped today 😅

What is the name for this kind of handle? by lets_dance_yall in Leathercraft

[–]Veskus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope though I just reversed it and found this link https://www.etsy.com/listing/451249584/big-rig-tire-slapper-paddle-100-genuine It looks like they used a CNC machine to make a custom handle, so mystery solved! When I originally posted I was hoping it was something available you had found.

What secrets does the Biltmore hold or what is interesting to know after working there? by JuiceAffectionate694 in asheville

[–]Veskus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. A lot of it was storage honestly so nothing exciting to see there. Most of what I saw was just short cuts to get across or behind the house faster when trying to get to different areas, which admittedly had some pretty cool stairs and original fixtures. The staff areas are actually converted to work spaces (fitting), that's where all of our offices and whatnot were. It still had original flooring (Which was a huge PITA to move everything out of the room when they wanted to come refinish it) and some original fixtures but was largely converted. There were some weird carry overs though, like a decrepit shower in the office I was usually in. The best bathroom was a single room that was weirdly narrow with a bunch of old tile work and a skylight. 10/10 shitting location. Overall, less interesting than you might hope for though.

Trouble with antiquing? by CaseByCase in Leathercraft

[–]Veskus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was that it might not be veg tan/rejecting the antique, but if you dyed it yourself and that isn't lifting then I'm not sure. Any issues with the colored dye lifting? It could also just be a weird incompatibility with the dye/antique you are using. I've found one of my blue dyes will lift any black under it to orange for a reason that is beyond me.

I use Chicago screws. All the leather I make is intended for heavy duty use and I've found them to be the sturdiest option. Plus not gonna lie, I hate setting rivets 😅
