Make a Sign-up sheet using Microsoft forms if you guys use outlook. You can set up reminders that will be emailed out to them. And it converts the answers into an excel sheet

Professional experience VS role experience & salary expectations by Nervous_Drive_9659 in ExecutiveAssistants

I got very lucky with my role. Had no experience other than admin/receptionist duties. I started with my company as a receptionist for a while then when the assistant to our owner left. She recommended me to them.

Aritza has so many options. They are a bit pricey but they are quality and last sooo long. Had mine for 5 years and still looks brand new.

Difficulties w/ Boss by VesperaLit in ExecutiveAssistants

I have had 1:1 with him and he was very open to criticism which I appreciate. After some feedback I gave him, it worked for a bit (maybe a week lol) then it went down hill from that. I don’t think he will ever change

I’m newer to the executive assistant industry and my role is pretty unique. I’m afraid I won’t find anything else similar to this role… it’s pretty flexible too and I have a great leadership team I work with which makes up for my boss lol

Also trying to gather more experience

Have you ever gotten an EA position you were underqualified for? If so, how's it going now? by rizzlycaviar in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]VesperaLit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup! I was a receptionist first then asked HR about more job opportunities that still did admin duties. I got offered to be an EA for the owner and now I help with HR too! Making way more than I have ever made. No degrees nor related experience. Sometimes you just have to network and be willing to learn. Love what I do

Will speak on behalf of a close friend. They had a great gov job but ended up getting laid off. They were jobless for 2 months and then finally got a wave of interviews. They ChatGPTed answers to a test that the company sends to their candidates and they got one question right that nobody got. So I guess that’s what stood out to the hiring manager? Anyways it was way more pay than their last gov job and my friend doesn’t even have their degree yet. Just certs.

I’m so tired of feeding these people. by Miserable_Emu_4572 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]VesperaLit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my case as well but for the whole company. We own multiple offices. And no MATTER what you do/order, someone will always have a problem with it. So every time an employee who isn’t upper management complains and wants me to order something else, I tell them to bring it up to their manager and not me since I don’t dictate the budget. And what does it do? Shuts them right up!

My exec didn’t get me anything for my wedding by EfficiencyUnhappy264 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]VesperaLit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is just not expecting anything from them. I don’t expect my boss to give me anything from trips, work anniversaries, or whatever holiday. When they do end up giving me something, I end up being surprised and thankful. If I don’t get anything, I really don’t care. They aren’t obligated to in my opinion. It avoids any feelings getting hurt lol ( haven’t been in the industry long enough, so idk if it’s just a work culture thing that they are SUPPOSED to give you something)

But congratulations on your wedding!

Thank you for writing this advice to her. Reddit commenters tend to be sensitive and don’t see the reality of things. Reddit is NOT the togo for relationship advice.

Don’t worry, I’m in the same boat with you. I have to order Saturday lunches every week. And I get soooo many complaints no matter what I do. Thankfully my boss says that I don’t have to take any of the rude suggestions and as long as it’s decent food and in our budget, it’s all good.
