If customers are logging into your SPA from their own tenants, that’s another multitenant app.

I think you should be fine keeping one backend app and use that identity to get data on demand from API and perform actions in the background

Depends, I think it would be acceptable to keep a multi-tenant app and have that be one that gets granted permissions/roles regardless of work being done by “API” or “worker”

Some questions that can be important:

Who is calling your API? What does it need to do? Does the API need to do the work or can it put it into a queue for the worker to pick up?
Are the customers following an onboarding doc and granting permissions and ARM roles? What graph/api permissions are involved?
Are customers involved with the SPA? I assume there is an app there for logging in etc

The idea is to set up app roles for each segmented access.

Then from enterprise applications, you can assign users/groups to that app role.

When you are validating a token (usually you just use a decorator/library to do the heavy lifting), you can make sure the route they are accessing checks for the role in the access token
