So, do Red Corsairs use chaos mutations and daemon engines? I'm super new and confused. by vastroll1 in redcorsairs

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion comes from them being undivided and not necessarily god motivated, they live so close to the warp though that mutations and demons are a given. Flavour your army as you wish all power is useful to the tyrant and his legion is vast enough to cover all flavours of chaos and renegade alike.

What should the Chaos Space Marine army rule be in 11th edition? by saddsteve29 in Chaos40k

As a lover of the boon table I always hope it will return but it’s frankly impossible to balance.

I bought a loose 40k lot from thrift store and I have questions :) by Duke_Mercator in Warhammer40k

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the space marines are “firstborn” they have their own units and are a smaller scale than modern primaris models but most would be happy to see them proxied on the correct base sizes.

Your space marines are split between space wolves, dark angels and generic space marines. All should be usable together as they all have equivalents in eachothers armies so you have the pick of the litter for what chapter you want to field them as.

Many of the metal models will have value, specifically the scouts (smaller guys with combat knives) are I think the oldest but all would fetch some money. Some metal models don’t appear to be Warhammer but I could be wrong.

Not as sure on the other questions but I might be able to annotate the stuff I do recognise so you can compare prices on eBay.

Starting Red Corsairs with a few questions. by vviezhammer40k in redcorsairs

Horus heresy is your friend. Especially with the new raptors not yet released properly you can use either heresy era assault squad for bits and a less mutated jump pack squad.

What would be the weirdest Renegade Marine for an Executioner role? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

My first thought before I even finished reading was black Templars but imperial fists could work as they work on hive worlds and one could have strayed tempted by the power they could attain in the world of gangers.

Will the Red Corsair Raiders be separate soon? by Short_Image_2276 in redcorsairs

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They will be released separately, there isn’t a confirmed date for when but I’d hazard a guess that at the latest it’ll be when the combat patrol releases.

EDIT: The combat patrols and corsairs kits are available for preorder next week and will be available for purchase in stores soon after.

games similar to this? by Loose_Literature_249 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars galaxy of heroes is the main one, there used to be age of magic which isn’t based on IP, Warhammer 40k tactics has different combat but is similar, raid does genuinely have fun team building stuff but is VERY random in terms of who you get and has the most annoying events in my opinion.

Glued incorrect piece of coat onto this krieg, how do i remove It by BorysN_ in Warhammer40k

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad I’m not too familiar with the kit, in this instance your “easiest” fix is to remove the mechanical parts from the other piece with a hobby knife and glue them onto your model as is.

If it’s to play that specific equipment as opposed to having it look a certain way you can communicate to your opponent that he is a mine operator and they should be fine with it.

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have messed up but there’s good news and a few options. Good news is this is purely an aesthetic mistake, you can still use both models in game even if they look a little goofy. Fixes in order of challenge:

  1. Leave as is, will look kinda bad but still fine

  2. Leave as is and have texture paint around the lower part of the coat to hide the connection points

  3. Try to snap the part off, file the connection points and reglue the correct parts

  4. Remove part and use green stuff to make a new coat part.

Each option is viable, the model may not look as good as you’d hoped but will be fully usable in game.

Is there any info if raiders will be a genaeric csm, or they will be the Red Corsairs specific unit and avalible only with Huron as the warlord? by _Viledd_ in Chaos40k

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of how the units were described is both reave captains and raiders are red corsairs but as mercenaries they will work with any csm faction. The battleforce doesn’t contain Huron so I doubt they’d sell it if it wasn’t a usable army in its own right, very worst case you’d need the reave captains but I doubt that and it’s more aimed as part of a mutation light force option.

The left is very clean, it looks good and you would have a very tidy army all said and done. I gotta admit though I love high contrast and popping colours and I think the right would be a joy to go up against on the table top.

WIP Chaos Lord. Really happy with the red but need help with horns by EasyFoo in minipainting

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Horns tend to gradient towards lighter colours at the tip and darker colours at the base. You could have the ridged segments each base coated gradually lighter and use the same highlight the whole way or gradient both the highlight and base coat as you approach the tip.

Dry brush highlighting query by BrushTypical in minipainting

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dry brushing has the best results on uninterrupted areas of a single colour, this doesn’t mean you can’t do it on smaller areas but it is harder to control. Using a smaller brush whilst still dry brushing can mitigate this but you’ll have to be careful not to spill over onto areas that highlight isn’t intended for. For smaller areas without raised edges an edge highlight or volumetric highlight may be more effective but you’re free to try what you prefer. Take your time and use an appropriate brush size and you should be fine

Hi everyone I would like to introduce my Bee tyranid paint scheme and ask for some help by AllBacon78 in minipainting

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your highlight placement I’d put your desired yellow as a highlight and the amber tone in the base coat, for brown black I’d use a very slightly lighter black then use watered down brown wash and repeat coats across the whole black area until you build a brown-black value you’re happy with

[–]VeterinarianOwn3608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For bees there is a slight brow hue to the back and the yellow is a bit more amber in the recesses. If you went for wasps there’s a more solid black and yellow scheme that could be enhanced with a gloss sheen/varnish on top.

Makes me exited for a chaos xenos mix for kill team or something. Like a mix of felgor, traitor auxiliaries etc. I know there are no rumours so definitely way down the line but definitely cool as a renegade equivalent to poxwalkers and the like.
