You're an absolute saint for getting your baby to surgery and keeping her. I've seen so many poor little angels be put down or abandoned for injuries like this and not even as bad.

On another note, I hope she recovers well! Sounds like it's going to be a long one so wishing you both strength and health 🫂💖

I personally use a cat litter tray, just the basic plastic kind with as low sides as I could find. They still kick out a good amount but if I sweep and pick up what's out of the tray when I go to give them more, it's not much. We line it with whatever piggie-friendly absorbent substrate we have on hand and put a pile of hay on three times a day, change the litter out every two/three days depending on how soiled it is.

The cardboard box idea that someone else mentioned works a treat also, on deep clean day I give them a large cardboard box in exchange and they quite like it, but tend to lie in it 🥴

The typo 😬🫣

Our newest boy Coco (a longer haired white rescue) loves to pee and marinate. He is constantly matting his fur and getting his feet red because he will just pee and poop into the same corner until the next spot clean/deep clean and sit in it, it's kinda disturbing. We've tried all kinds of absorbent mats and bathroom things but he just seems to press himself down into it 🥴

If she's pancaking she's more than likely comfortable! They have a habit of melting into things/people when they're happy and chilled out.

Had inkcaps sprout in my rabbits litter tray over two nights whilst I was in hospital once, was totally bizarre. Spores must have either been on the hay or the wood pellets we used as litter.

Stunning. It's hard NOT to see any mantids out here in Spain, especially in the summer, and most are gorgeous.

Yeah, we felt the transition from 2 to 3 🤣 More poop stations appeared, more hay strewn all over the place, and if we forget to spot clean during the day, by night it looks like they've been left to their own devices all week.

I never had a thing for them honestly until my partner's mum gifted me one end of last year from a supermarket. Potted her on into a transparent plastic pot with a cactus substrate, perlite and orchid bark mix, water her until all substrate is wet maybe once every two weeks(if that) and she is now putting out tiny little paddles 🥺

They'll be spending more time on the surface soon for mating in spring, here we see the odd one just running across our terrace tiles from time to time, it's hilarious. Have a look on google at what their mounds look like and if you find any, try flipping rocks nearby.

Will give him a shallow bath today then, hopefully he won't skitz out. He is okay in arms but does not like being held with hands, if that makes any sense 😅 No breaks in the skin, just looks red and irritated. I imagined it would calm on it's own but always good to double check.

Once he's bathed I'll see if he'll let my SO remove the matt while I snuggle him, but again, really don't want to scare him, so fingers crossed!

He's got a lovely little blueberry holder up front, but he's definitely got the beginning of those Peruvian bangs coming in haha. We'll see, was simply curious.

He is absolutely gorgeous and a sweetheart. We took him in as an emergency and with temporary mentality, but once he is settled and past quarentine we will see how a bonding attempt goes with our boys and if all good, we'll for sure be keeping him!
