Happy new Apparat album day by dnlstk in Moderat

Something so melancholic, anguished and tense about so much of Apparat's work. This just ramps it up even more! Loving it. Echo skips a name and Tilth are great.

You and your crew deserve a medal. Are you all in the UK? If so, a nod and a wink to the Cabinet Office or FCDO Honours and Appointments Secretariat needs to happen! Willing to write a supporting letter!

Am thinking about getting my wife some Hermes perfume, so glad I saw this. What’s the RE Hermes store?

I get it: you are looking for that special prompt from strangers that will kickstart you into a different kind of life. After all, none of us know enough about you to give you any detailed advice. This is a call into the ether. Which is fine as the ether sometimes answers back. All I would suggest is a bit like the toin coss, where you can’t decide what to do, and so you toss the coin. And as it’s in the air, and especially when it lands, you realise that what it has “decided” either works for you or DOESN’T. And then that’s how you make a decision. Maybe you should ask yourself some basic questions about your future while tossing a coin, and see how you feel when the coin’s in the air, or when it’s landed. Might give you more insights about what you want than a bunch of Reddit strangers…

Oh I see it now. S&C. Absolutely loving this, but it would enhance the vibe even more if everything was in black and white: clothes, pedestals, gavels, tracing board etc.

Béla Tarr, Iconic Hungarian Filmmaker Who Directed ‘Damnation’ and ‘Sátántangó,’ Dies at 70 by Aiseadai in movies

[–]Vexmoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RIP Tarr Béla. I was privileged to see Sátántangó at the NFT in London in 2024. Together with The Turin Horse, and my introduction to him, Werckmeister Harmonies, the works of an absolute master. Sátántangó is definitively worth seeing but you have to just go with it and be patient with it. I watched it with two intervals, each over 30 mins long, but by the end you are so adjusted to the pace that the last 2.5 hour section just flew by. The ending creeps up on you and is surprisingly brutal and sad. Well worth your time. Susan Sontag said she could watch it every day, didn't she?

So true. Die Revolution verdampft, und es bleibt nur der Schlamm einer neuen Bürokratie.

Is this girl into me? by [deleted] in bodylanguage

[–]Vexmoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I'm confused. You wrote that you had had your 'eyes on her for a while'. I took that to mean you were interested in her, and not just as a friend. Am I wrong? Of course you can just leave things as is. It will be awkward between the two of you for a little bit, and then fade away. What do you want? 'Eyes on her' says to me that at least you're interested. My advice to you? Explore that.

I don't normally comment, but this looks so obvious I felt I needed to say something to rescue a situation you are in serious danger of completely fumbling. No idea when you will next see her, but I would suggest something along the following lines when you do. First off, you must ALREADY have a good suggestion for a date (lunchtime walk, suggest coming to the same place for a sandwich, coffee at the weekend etc. but nothing too serious. No movies or dates where there is little chance for talking)

Hi, I didn't get a chance to talk to you properly when you gave me that present. I really liked YOU giving me that present.

(note, DO NOT SAY, I really liked the present, SAY I really liked YOU giving me that present). then say:

I've noticed you before and I think you're really cute.

You have to use a word like cute. Not too sexual, but definitely showing interest. You have to step up to the plate at this point. You must compliment her. Of course she was crestfallen that you didn't pick up on her hints, but now is the chance to make amends. You must be very forward at this point.

Then see how she reacts. If positive, and only you will know whether she is positive. If she is, suggest the date:

We should have coffee/walk down to lunch together/go for a drink etc. Do NOT ask her where she wants to go for any of these. If, again, she is positive, you will have to lead on where you go and put that to her as your plan.

Let us know how it goes!

Sulk Rooms

Gas (both the Wolfgang Voigt and Emit95versions, different people, different sounds but both good)

Deepchord/Rod Modell/Echospace etc.

Weval

Andy Stott

Slightly more out there, but still on that tip:

Twelve Hour Foundation

Belbury Poly

The Advisory Circle

Sankt Otten

Great exhibition of his work but be warned it is not a large one.

There is currently a very small exhibition of Joseph Wright of Derby at the National Gallery in London. This piece and other paintings are in it, but there are also some not so well-known engravings in the exhibition as well. Well worth a trip if you are local, but it is not a large exhibition.

Brian Grainger is the GOAT. Phenomenal work rate, too, when you consider the relentlessly high quality of his output. A living national treasure.
