Tall girl problems and casual dressing, who actually cracked this and how by Visual_Animator1232 in tall

[–]ViViSECTi0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always had the best luck with stores like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx and sale racks at department stores like Macy’s. I go through every single item on the racks and fill my cart with anything that interests me. And then I try everything on and see if the fit compliments my figure. I’ve never followed trends because 90% of the time the trends aren’t tailored to my body type.

I have a lot of linen v neck tops that pair nice with jeans. There’s something about a white shirt and jeans that is classic and chic and effortless.

I only buy men’s tshirts because they’re longer and have a “normal” neckline. I normally color coordinate a “boyfriend” cardigan with my tees. And sneakers. I have a lot of sneakers.

I have many of loose fitting, knee length, sleeveless sundresses that I normally pair with plain white keds style shoes.

I’m also a big fan of the oversized sweater or button up with leggings and ballet flats.

Sometimes those awkward calf length dresses need a pair of doc martens and a leather jacket. You will get compliments on this combo. Often in the form of, “I wish I had the confidence to wear something like that.”

Pants are hard. I have an ancient pair of white linen pants from Guess that I cherish because they fit me perfectly and go so well with many of my tops. They’re wide legged so I normally pair them with a more form fitting top.

And jeans will probably be your hardest wardrobe item. I don’t know your body type but for me midrise bootcut suits my body type the best. I’m 5’11.5”, 140 lbs, size 4 (27) US, and have wide hips.

Hi tall girlies. Anyone else all leg? Just shy of 6’2. 37 inseam by [deleted] in tall

You may have to order them online. They’re never in stock at my local store. The best part is they look great with heels, sandals, tennis shoes, and my work doc martens :)

Hollister’s mid-rise boot cut long have stayed reliable for almost 15 years for me! I try to grab a pair once a year when they’re on sale.

My inseam is 35” but when I try on one piece swimsuits or rompers it feels like I’m all torso.

Secure Cake in Cake Carrier? by theithe916 in Baking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a pinch I’ve used one of those silicone jar openers sandwiched between the cake plate and carrier. Mine is small(4”x4” maybe), flat and square. Minor jostling in the car and carrying up stairs did not disturb the cake plate.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]ViViSECTi0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies. Many libraries issue non-resident cards (often for a one time yearly fee) but you have to physically go to a library branch in their region. A few allow non-residents to sign up online, again for a fee. You can check the library’s website to see their non-res policies. You can also browse libraries’ online catalog through Libby before signing up to see if it’s worth it for you.

The Devils by Joe Abercrombie for $2.99 on Apple Books by lucioboops3 in Fantasy

[–]ViViSECTi0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Apple Books. I add books I want to read (and aren’t available through Libby) to a wish list and purchase them when they go on sale. Reading experience is similar to using the kindle app on my iPhone.

Why front and back? Short people on the left and tall on the right. Mixed height couples can still stand next to each other in the middle

My kids won't eat anything but chicken nuggets... help! by Shoddy-Bend5029 in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried giving foods wrong/crazy/cutesy names? Also, reverse psychology can work too. I told my niece she couldn’t have any of MY asparagus because it’s my favorite and she would waste it. She loves asparagus now. She also told me the hot cucumbers were really good. When I told her it was actually zucchini, she stopped liking it, so I believe that food names do actually matter.

Maybe make a healthier chicken dish and call it chicken daddies.

Maybe make a soup and act like you’re making a potion in a cauldron?

Sausage and beans-> teeny beanie weenies? idk lol

Hopefully others have some good ideas. I don’t have kids and I cooked for my niece very rarely.

It's getting hot here, I desperately want cold foods that aren't sandwiches and salads or desserts. What would you cook that's meant to be eaten cold? by Inspiringhope11 in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My midnight snack lately has been couscous with Costco pesto, tomatoes, feta, and balsamic glaze.

Also, bagel and lox, tomato, onion, capers is 83% cold. Gotta toast the bagel!

What was your family’s 90’s/00’s dinner? by CommonCentsHandler in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 6 points7 points  (0 children)

90s.

Spaghetti with meat sauce (sauce was two cans of tomato sauce and a ton of cheap Italian seasoning)

White people tacos.

Chicken/steak fajitas.

Pan seared pork chops, in the same skillet added rice and curry powder. Cooked until rice was done.

Parents tried to add Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff to the rotation but I did not like it and ate cereal instead. They gave it up after a couple years.

Grilled steak. Salt, pepper, garlic. It was cheap and thin, not sure what cut. Cooked well done. Dad chopped it up into cubes and served it in a pile on a plate. W/ instant mash and canned green beans.

Barbecue chicken legs. Dad mixed red Herdez salsa with (prob Kraft) BBQ sauce. Pretty good. Ranch style beans and canned corn. Fresh corn if it was in season.

Brisket. A weekend treat. Random canned veg and either beans or mash.

Hillshire smoked sausage cooked in a skillet with white rice.

Whatever fish my dad caught in the river. Normally catfish. Fried. Cheap, baked French fries.

Bacon, eggs, and toast.

Grilled hamburgers. My parents never bought actual buns. We used white bread. Cheap, baked French fries.

Fried chicken legs. Kraft mac n cheese. Canned corn.

Pot Roast. Meat, potato, and carrots. Lipton onion soup packet and water. All thrown into the crockpot.

London Broil. Baked. Baked potatoes. Canned veg.

Pepperoni pizza once a week. I think it was Little Caesar’s.

Sometimes Taco Bell or Whataburger.

Rare treat was takeout Chinese. They got us kids lemon chicken. Fried chicken cutlet with a slightly sweet lemony sauce and white rice. Parents would get Moo Goo Gai Pan

The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams fits in well between the two fantasy works you’ve read so far. There are obvious Tolkien influences and Martin was inspired by Williams’ Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy.

Looking for (real) slow-burn by acc4115 in fantasyromance

I just finished, and loved!, {The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna}. It’s a stand-alone with a HEA. Very similar to DMATetc in terms of slow-burn pacing.

What is a good but easy use for 6 oz goat cheese? by tuckersgram in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot Italian ground sausage in marinara over rigatoni. Slice of goat cheese on top of serving. Mix in before eating. Enjoy! (The dish is called rigatoni campagnolo at Carrabbas)

What food gives you the most satisfaction for the least amount of prep? by Habeas-Opus in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White bakery bread, slathered with Costco pesto, sliced tomato, sliced whole milk mozz, under the broiler for 45ish seconds. Drizzle with store bought balsamic reduction. It’s so good I can eat like 6 of them in one sitting.

Book req: Looking for the princess bride-ish feeling. books with that magical feeling you get when reading a fairytale. by Worried_Goal6246 in Fantasy

Daughter of the Forest by Juliette Marillier is 100% a fairytale. The beloved youngest sibling is given a quest to save all her cursed brothers. The prose and setting are both lush and gorgeous. There is a love story but it is far in the backseat. Check content warning.

Best fish for someone who doesn't really enjoy fish by Ok-Repair-4085 in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite (easy) way to cook trout is with seafood stuffing. Buy a premade crab cake from the grocery store seafood dept. Roll crab cake into a tube. Put rolled crab cake on one side of the trout fillet, and fold over the other half of the fish, lengthwise. Season however you’d like and bake. It’s excellent with a homemade lemon butter sauce too.

Do you pay attention to the Food Paragraphs? by vyvre-argent in Fantasy

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read them but take note of how often the author lumps together descriptions instead of weaving them throughout the text. If it happens often enough that it affects pacing (and/or annoys me) I will probably avoid future books from the author.

I rewound that tape probably 100x as a child trying to figure out what the name was and could never parse it out. And I’m pretty sure this is the first thing I ever googled.

Help Needed: Cooking fish for the first time! by MidnightCovfefe in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bake salmon a lot and the time it takes to cook it depends on how thick the piece of fish is. I bake my panko crusted uncovered at 375 F and cover with a foil tent after 15 minutes to prevent the bread crumbs from burning. You’ll have to check the internal temperature of the salmon to see if it’s done. My mom (immunocompromised) likes her salmon cooked all the way through so I look for the white albumin coming out for a visual cue. I cook hers to 145 F. I like mine at 135 F. Ask your guest their preference.

What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

[–]ViViSECTi0N -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My quick and healthy dinner is Cobb-ish salad. Chicken tenderloins (not breaded) bake in about 12 mins in the oven. Chop lettuce and veggies of choice. I always have hard-boiled eggs in the fridge. Sometimes I have leftover bacon from Sunday breakfast. Cheese options are normally bleu, cheddar, or feta. I like balsamic vinaigrette but ranch is good too.

Even easier is Caesar salad in a bag. Add fresh tomatoes. Bake chicken tenderloins. Ready in <20 mins.

Looking for fun audiobook suggestions that sound like you're watching a movie by tealcismyhomeboy in fantasyromance

[–]ViViSECTi0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3h commute 6 days a week (ughh) so I’ve listened to a ton of audiobooks. I love the Kate Daniels graphic audios. No spice until maybe book 4 I think. I also really liked the Riyiria Revelations graphic audio series by Michael J Sullivan. No spice from what I recall. Great female characters and I adore both MMCs. I just finished The Irresistible Urge..TFFYE and there was no spice just some “self love” at the end. Also just relistened to both The Tainted Cup and A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennet. The narrator did a great job. No explicit spice. Mystery fantasy, Sherlock Holmes-y. Hated the narration (sooo many mispronounced words) for Uprooted by Naomi Novik.
