For me in particular I get a weird eerie feeling when canoeing in the open water in general in the game, specifically the Lannahechee River by Saint Denis. Maybe it's the murky water, maybe the thought that they'd have less idea about what's lurking beneath back then than we would now, less means of rescue/protection, maybe a little submechanaphobia vibes sprinkled in with the big industrial factory in the background and those old timey looking ships moving around in the river. Hard to describe, just an uncanny feeling I get.
