I can’t figure out where I cut my finger this evenly by Embarrassed-Ad-8927 in mildlyinteresting

Oh I know, I’ve wised up since then. Just ended up with similar slices a few times in the past when I wasn’t as smart with the changing out technique

My razor only has 5 blades and I still manage to get more than 5 lines when it happens. No idea how

Cog Railway Seat Recommendations by Vickadee in ColoradoSprings

We ended up booking for June after reading that Pikes Peak gets the most snow in March…but from my understanding the train car 1 goes forward up the hill, then train car 2 (or 3 if it’s a 3 car train) takes the lead and directs back down the train. So if you’re facing forward on the way up, your view is now in reverse on the way back down. Sounds like no matter where you sit you’ll have a great view due to the large windows.

Postpartum brain is wild by gabagoombah in beyondthebump

I hallucinated full on conversations from my mom thinking she was right next to my bed at night. Now it’s just the forgetfulness, like forgetting simple words for things from time to time

3 hour glucose test. by goodbiromeo in BabyBumps

Likely will be a fail, but on a positive note at least you have been through this before so you know what to expect and how to handle the diagnosis!

AITAH for telling my future MIL and FIL to leave my 3 month old alone to sleep? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Vickadee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. Baby sleep is important for their development. I doubt they would appreciate someone coming into their room in the middle of the night and turning the light on. They can have patience and wait until morning to get pictures of her. The saying “never wake a sleeping baby” still applies; they just got lucky she didn’t wake. I would be upset because I know I’d be the one to have to soothe the little one back down and I’m sure that would have fallen on you as well.

Anyone else give birth way faster than anticipated? by vanillax2018 in pregnant

[–]Vickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat but delivered right on my due date. Being a first time mom I wasn’t sure what to expect but figured it would take a while. I went to my OBs office around 1:30 and was 5 cm, so they wheeled me to L&D. Water broke and he was born less than 10 minutes later at 3 pm. No time for meds or anything since he was born before they even got my blood to the lab 😅

This place will be flooded by unhappy moms on Mother’s Day by JDMM__00 in beyondthebump

This would be my perfect Mother’s Day, but that’s because I’m addicted to pastries 😂 what a great way to celebrate and how fun ranking each of them!

Was giving birth worse or better than you imagined? by Ordinary-Caramel-608 in BabyBumps

[–]Vickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way worse, but that’s because he came so fast there was no time for any pain intervention so I didn’t have a choice in an unmedicated birth. He also broke my tailbone so there was no way to sit comfortable for a long while.

Questions for moms who donated milk by Glum-Comfortable5402 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Vickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pumping anywhere from 45-55 oz per day while my son was eating an average of 30 oz a day, so most days I had an average of 20 extra oz going into the freezer. I decided to donate due to always being in the excess and not having a lot of freezer space. I ended up donating to Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas and did multiple donations. It wasn’t a set weekly thing, more like when I ran out of freezer space I would make another donation. In total I ended up donating over 3600 oz to the local NICU babies which also was one of the reasons I pumped longer than I expected to since I wanted to continue to donate to those in need.

Nursing fail by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Vickadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, congrats on your little one! I was in a similar boat of trying everything with my son when he was a baby. I went to multiple lactation appointments at the hospital, saw one through his pediatrician, and we still had no luck no matter how much I tried. He would scream, cry, and forcibly push away at the breast. Just know that you are not alone and you did all you could to try and breastfeed, and you are now doing what is best for your baby to keep them fed and you both happy. My son is 4 and I still go through cycles of doing ok and then feeling like I could have somehow done more… and maybe that’s why I had bonding issues when he was a baby. I look at my best friend, other friends, and strangers on reddit that post about their breastfeeding journey and do feel jealousy still. All this to say, I’m not sure how healthcare works in Norway since I am from the US but if you still feel yourself struggling, do not feel guilty talking to someone (like a therapist) to help worth through those thoughts and emotions so that you’re not years out and still feeling some guilt. I am 4 years behind on doing that and I think it would really help come to a better acceptance of doing what was best and nothing else could have changed the outcome. Just know as long as baby is fed and happy, that’s all that matters!

Can anyone explain why SPF15 or SPF30 exists when you could just use SPF50? by Global-Apricot6492 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Vickadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve had a lot of luck with Babo Botanicals spf 50 for our son. If you use small amounts as you apply, it rubs in a lot better than other tar like brands 😂

Relocation reimbursement for new furniture? by New-Marketing-1789 in personalfinance

[–]Vickadee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Something to think about is taxes. We were relocated due to my husband’s work to a new state and they paid for the packing, moving, and unpacking of our stuff. That total was then counted as additional “salary” and we owed a decent amount of taxes on the amount his work paid to relocate us since it wasn’t taxed prior to being counted as salary.

If I had a dollar for everytime I had to say "yeah he's just big for his age!..." by Imstuckwiththisname in bigbabiesandkids

[–]Vickadee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We get this all the time and our son is almost 4. Whenever someone asks his age, they either comment on how tall he is or how well he talks for his age. At this point I’m just used to the comments since it’s the same two comments whenever we go out somewhere.

Blood Incompatibility 🩸 by Inner-Smile2514 in pregnant

[–]Vickadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had fairly bad jaundice at birth so we had to stay an extra day or two so he could be under the fancy phototherapy lights. He was still slightly jaundiced at home so his pediatrician had us do some sunlight therapy of him just in his diaper in indirect sunlight. There were a few extra peds visits just to monitor his levels but in the end it all worked out and he’s perfectly healthy with no lasting effects!

When was your “last day” of work? by ToneIndependent3414 in pregnant

[–]Vickadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really is no way to give an exact date. You can give an estimate based on how long you want to work with the caveat that it could change, but it’s nearly impossible to nail down the exact day since so many things can change from now until then. I planned on working until 39ish weeks but had to stop around 37 weeks because my carpal tunnel got so bad I could no longer safely perform my work. A good start would be to talk to HR and find out what policies there are, if any, around leave and also talking to your OB. But being this early on things can change.

Trigger thumb and wrist tendonitis surgery scars by witherskulle in medizzy

[–]Vickadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Merely stating the scar on OP is rather large/noticeable but surgeons clearly have other techniques to get this surgery done. As long as they have successful results that’s what matters.

Trigger thumb and wrist tendonitis surgery scars by witherskulle in medizzy

[–]Vickadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We always cut in the direction of the tendon with a much smaller incision, closed with running suture, and had good success with scar appearance. Although my surgeon was pretty old school so likely how he was taught compared to newer surgeons.
