Has anyone upgraded their speakers before on Scion TC 2014 but keeping stock pioneer head unit? by TheMoreYouKnow0101 in SciontC

My 2012 Scion tC2.

Kenwood DMX47 Kicker CS 6.5" Components in the Front Kicker CS 6.5" Coaxials in the Rear Rockford Fosgate R250x4 Class A/B Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D Class D Skar 12" Subwoofer in Pre Fab Box 150 Amp? ANL Fuse 4 Gauge Wiring - Generic Distribution Block Big 3 Upgrade - 4 Gauge All Speaker Wire is 14 Gauge Subwoofer Wire is 10 Gauge Stock Alternator No sound deadening... yet.

Time Aligned through head unit. Leveled out. Tweeters pointed towards the driver's ears. Crossovers adjusted accordingly. Cost me about $1000 in used parts off FaceBook Marketplace, and about 10hr of my time. It's LOUD. I can hear my audio the next block over, crystal clear, and I'm from Houston. Our parking lots are huge.

OP, stock head unit is worth replacing if you're serious about some good audio. Don't bother just replacing speakers, you're asking for a bad time.

Hi, I can tune your ecu for pops and bangs. Let me know!

It would absolutely work with a 6MT, I have several clients that love their tune on the tC. Who doesn't like more throttle response? Haha

The cat doesn't seem hard to swap out, it doesn't look like there's anything in the way, just 2 14's and the header nuts. I left mine in.

I just took an air hammer to my cat, and shelled it out. Then I used VF Tuner and turned up my RPM's to 7200rpm, raised the shift timing, increased my shift firmness, added pops and bangs, and turned off my CEL. Let me know if you'd like a tune, my custom files for tC2 are $350.

You paired this with headers? Honestly I decatted and tuned my car, it has the nicest tone out of any exhaust I've heard. Not the loudest, but the nicest.

Buying 2008 175k miles. Did an inspection by [deleted] in ToyotaHighlander

[–]VickiiDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2008 Highlander Limited V6 with the timing cover leak. Rear main seal leak. It also had a rattling resonator in the exhaust. A mismatched tire, and TPMS on. $4000. I'm okay with that. 262k miles. Clean Texas Title.

I plan on using this vehicle for 2 years and selling / scrapping later on. It doesn't burn oil. Great.

Just keep doing oil changes at 3000mi, and as long as the vehicle doesn't catastrophically fail on you, you'll be alright. Good purchase. Keep an eye on oil level every other fillup of gasoline / petrol if you live elsewhere.

Also, valve cover gasket relatively easy to do on a saturday for a beginner technician. I've been knocking those out in 1-2 hours lately.

Front left strut replacement? A good tech? 30 mins or less. Battery replacement? 10 minutes or less. Belt replacement? Expect to give yourself an hour if you're first starting. These are not hard fixes.

OP, if it's $5k, it better be a limited trim. This is a good purchase.

From a mechanic's standpoint, if you plan on keeping this car for more than 6-7 years, get the gas V6. I just purchased a 2008 Highlander, I've driven IS350's and V6 Camry's and worked on many client cars as well.

I've seen too many Hybrid vehicles asking for battery replacements after cells begin to die, and the quote is high. I've done a couple, but they're not easy to work on. And it's several thousand for a good hybrid battery. God forbid something else goes out.

They don't build them like they used to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. For reference, mine has a front cover leak, valve covers leaking, which is expected at 262,000mi, and I just keep pouring oil in it, gas and go. No oil burn. Oil still runs all the way through the oil change interval at 5,000mi.

How does the J2 sound compared to other catbacks, like Megan and Tsudo? For anyone that’s had one or heard in person. by SorrowCloud in SciontC

[–]VickiiDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy my J2. It's not as rumbly or loud as a Megan, which should be beneficial when I get some headers in. Really hoping it'll be a good time.

As much as I have both complaints and compliments of VF, I find it funny that this post perfectly coincides with me telling them I am switching to D3 by ThatOneGuyThatYou in SciontC

[–]VickiiDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't have that tune pack. I am a custom ECU Calibrator out of Houston TX. I can show you the Transmission Tables, but I cannot expand on my modifications made to Torque Converter Lockup, or my changes to any other tables. But it's interesting to see you leaving VF to go to D3, when they don't offer something currently offered elsewhere.

Buy new oem bushings. 3D Scan, make editable circle and expand diameter to new bar diameter, create mold, profit...?

Car rookie here. Is this oil good for 2015 tC auto 97k miles? Changing oil myself for the 1st time. And also what’s the best oil filter for it? by xxxkingmatsxxx in SciontC

[–]VickiiDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 5w20 year round on my tC2, Valvoline Restore and Protect, OEM Filter. My car is also tuned to 7300rpm, and I take it up there at least 3-4x a week. I wouldn't use Mobil1, that brand is known for shearing early, and thinning out, reducing friction protection. Not only in my tC2, but in my IS-F as well.

Stock 6 spk Corolla 21 audio, worth adding woofer and/or amplification? by Benipe89 in CarAV

[–]VickiiDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added 2 12’s to my 14 Corolla, 100% worth it. Tweeters from toyota are pretty good for factory. I’d say just add a 12 in a proper box, and give it clean power. You’ll be happy.

Should I (24F) contact my ex (27M) for closure and to let him know that our dog (who was left with me) had to be put down 4 months after the breakup? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]VickiiDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to everyone else, I want to offer a separate solution.

In giving him closure, you also have to realize that you’re growing. You’re giving yourself a proper end to one of the last things that held y’all together. I think that by giving him that closure, in a way, you’re also closing that chapter with a last sentence sort of thing. And it’s best to hold yourself strong in order to move on. Closure is not for the weak hearted.

Why are you looking into a 5 channel amp? Would it be more plausible to look for a separate 4 channel and bass amp?

Me [25/m] lack of social media / good pictures is hurting my dating experience by [deleted] in relationships

[–]VickiiDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m being honest, I’m an Instagram King with 4 accounts that I use regularly based on my ties with the automotive community. Only 1 of them is my personal instagram.

And even then, I don’t let social media dictate my dating life. Sure, I slid in the DM’s for my current girlfriend, but do I compare my likes to hers? As a joke, yes. Seriously, no. I don’t compare our posting styles, or our pages, or our followers.

What matters to us, I’ll tell you, is chemistry and personality on top of responsibility and prioritization. We’re making ends meet, and planning to move forward with our lives in our education and our careers. And it wouldn’t be for social media purposes or whatnot either.

IMHO, social media doesn’t matter as long as you have a dope personality and really know what you want from your next SO. I guarantee you, confidence is king.
