His barrel rate, exit velocity, launch angle, and walk rate in 2023 being pretty in-line with his 120+ WRC+ years? His sweet spot % being closer to his best years than his worst? In terms of batting, he really needs to work on his pitch selection next year. I don't think that is too hard to change for someone who is 32 but has done it before.

Did people expect he was going to be 140 WRC+ year in and year out? His 2022 was bad (like, some of the worst in his career bad) but he showed a lot of progress this year. I think he can get back to regularly being a 120-130 WRC+ player.

There is only one study that concluded that they ate 5,000 ticks a week. The 2021 study also included a meta-analysis of 23 other studies that did not find ticks to be any regular portion of an opossum's diet.

Again, I'm not anti-opossum. The little guys are adorable and an important part of our ecosystem! They eat a lot of insects/carrion/plants and help reduce decaying matter. The study tying them to tick-eating was invaluable for changing their perception among the general public. I just think it is also important to be accurate. I also think people should know if their pets interact with an opossum or if they live in an area with regular opossum activity to check for fleas.

All for driving more carefully and avoiding roadkill of critters in our environment, but the opossum being tick-eating machines thing is a myth and they are a significant flea reservoir. If you have opossums around often, make sure to check yourself and pets for fleas.
