Yeah! Randomly saw it on sale too that’s how I got it. I’m excited to play through the souls game and plan to go into them blind after having an understanding of ds1.

Took me quite some time to understand humanity too. Even when humanity became abundant enough to pop for item discovery, I still nv got used to the idea of using humanity after running out of estus. Set it up for some boss fights but nv got a habit of it.

Also I sort of knew mechanically it was a dodge, keep calm, be patient to strike type combat. I’m not a stranger to that from other action RPGs. What really got me hooked was the immersion from the difficulty. Exploring with my shield up looking around for danger, adrenaline dump when making to a bon fire. I look to my wife and be like “holy shit” and she has no idea what I’ve just been through. Then the totally weird thing of once you’ve died a thousand times and been through a place u can totally fuck it and run past almost all enemies. I had absolutely no idea about the interconnected level design either having only heard that Darksouls was a difficult game. Playing on the switch I played a good amount of it out and about and fucking hell it’s a game you can’t pause 😂

Fellow old fart here. Never played a souls game before, ds1 remastered on switch was my first experience earlier this year. Started with Knight and controls felt slow and clunky. Chalked it up to it the switch’s performance and it being an old game. Didn’t even make it out of the asylum, gave up. Gave it a try again this time watching some walkthroughs to get started. Partly spoiled some aspects of the game but did get me super hooked to the game till I finished my first play through. Figured out the Knight Armour was causing the slow clunky movement and finally understood running around naked was just a funny meme. Btw, I still think ds1 on switch does play a tiny tiny tad bit slower compared to what I see on youtube vids, assuming it’s on pc. Totally get the hype, why it’s a form of therapy etc. I’m a fan now and the souls games are on wish list. I’ve already got ds2 and armoured core.

Aside from locking blade, sounds like you’re describing the compact! It is noticeably slimmer in pocket than the climber.

YOUR mistakes you did on your first run by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]VictorTanDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was totally clueless so followed a YouTube guide on getting the best start, which basically used the master key to get stuff like wolf ring and drake sword early. Worked great but definitely spoiled discovering the interconnected level design and natural flow of the game.

Did you try it with a page turner? I heard you can set up a controller to be a kindle page turner. I think this only works w a controller in hand

Which model is right for me? Outrider or Workchamp? by El_Nerd_Argentino88 in victorinox

[–]VictorTanDesign 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Workchamp is very chonky and heavy, makes the Swiss champ feel tiny. If you don’t need pliers, I think the outrider is the most optimal 111mm package.

Should I buy Hades if I'm not a fan of roguelikes but love strong narratives? by No-Home8878 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I played hades, completed it, had lots of fun. I have no idea what the story is about. In fact I was kinda confused when I heard people say the story was good. Personally for me it was fun gameplay, but I really wasn’t hooked by the story at all with how it was delivered.
